Your dd2's CC follow strictly MOE's instruction.

actually, what do our 2007 needs to know before going P1 in 2014 ?

            (1) read - in what level
            (2) write - words only ?sentences only or like essay ??
            (3) speak chinese and english.. fluently ? chinese may be a prob for mine.
            (4) maths - what needs to know ? add/sub/mul ??
            (5) social skill- thk most can socialise..
Asked my two older kids (rising p4 and p2) to advise ds2.
            They said:
            - need to be able to copy FAST from whiteboard/visualizer
            - need to LISTEN to teachers
            - need to FOLLOW their instructions
            - need to ASK questions if in doubt
            - need to learn to work effectively in groups
            - need to remember to bring his water bottle and lunchbox home or mommy will :nunchuk:

For reading, I'd say they also need to be at the level where they can, independently, comprehend worksheet instructions.
For writing, enough to (1) answer open-ended comprehension questions; (2) write 3 to 5 lines for each picture in compositions. But that depends on how early your school starts on compositions.

Don't forget there's also show and tell. 😄

For those doing CL, don't worry too much about hypy. My kids' kindergarten only started that in Term 3 of K2, and they didn't have any problems with it in p1. They don't have CL enrichment either.

Oh ya, forgot about show and tell.

The kiddos have S&D, from kindy. I find that it helps.

Oh, and for parents, network a bit with those from your class.

There’s bound to be things you need to clarify. So get some phone numbers at orientation.

                      Very true 🙂
Hope you get teachers who are responsive. :xedfingers: Some of ours were not, especially those in charge of busy CCAs.

                        Hi

I have a 2007 ds too. Anyone knows whether our kids batch will be competitive for p1 reg?

I guess it would depend on the popularity of the school, the area that you live in and also citizenship.

Did you PV? Member of clan or churches? Grassroots leader? Are you going with your or your hubby's alma mater?

                        Hi s-hm-tan

Thx for the reply. Currently we are still overseas n address less. 1 set of grandparents live within 1 km of st Hilda and another set live within 1 km of sjij acsj. I guess if I use their address I'll be in 1 - 2 km range and chances are poor. We hoping to return home soon n purchase a home near one of the grandparents. Will there increase the intake no since it's the year of the golden pigs?
