COP 2012 - For Secondary Schools in 2013
-
finder:
Assuming TOP 10% of 48500 students are above 250, with 4000 IP, it would mean 800+ students would need to go for O level program, this will push up top O level schools cut off point quite a fair bit.

Elsewhere in the forum they've placed the number of IP places at about 4200/4300 and that's not counting the IP places at SOTA. So it's about 500-600 students who score more than 250 who will seek spots in the O level route. But that's assuming everyone wants to go IP. Not everyone does. -
Noticed that in 2009, when population is highest, the COP for all school is also highest; so I guess, this year COP will be higher.

That was in last year. Per ST article.I am not sure forumners have already read this piece of info.
Apparently, 500 students with t-scores more than 250 have opted out from the IP system and have chosen the O level, more structured, route. -

That is based on the assumption on the number of places for O level in the good schools remain the same. As far as i know MOE controls and decides on the number of classes/students for Sec 1 in schools (Independent could be excluded?) and I am very sure some of the schools will have no choice but to increase their intake to accomodate the bumper crop of dragon year babies. -

Hi VCโs mum,
If you have the COP of all the above schools (RVHS, RI, NYGH, RGS, NJC) from 2004. Can you also list them down like what you have done for HCI and DHS?
Thanks in advance. -

I fully agreed with you! EESIS is designed to encourage top students to opt for independent schools, MOE or the government should not just walk away when parents of these students are subsequently caught in rising school fees as a result of getting their children to follow the path laid down by the government! Apart from high monthly school fee, there is annual miscellaneous fee of several hundred dollars which parents have to pay! It is killing the middle class parents who are not rich,
I have been thinking though that it is about time the quantum for the EESIS be raised. It has been $200 for years now. But the fees of the IS have all been raised and many are at $300. Anyone going to start a petition?
and not poor enough to be eligible for financial assistance! -

Hence why I'd rather my DD not go to an IS. I simply cannot afford it. My DD chose a govt IP school. I'd spoken to the teacher there and she said \"our school has many students from the lower income group\". I'm hoping the school will not expect parents to be able to afford expensive trips and other misc costs.
