My son who will be P3 next year likes reading. Teacher also commented in his report book he is an \"avid reader\" But the problem is he only likes the \"Mousey Book\" Geronimo Stilton series and non fiction books about space & nature. He does read other classic like \"Greek Myths, Dracula, etc..I am trying hard now to find other authors for him to read but he is not interested in Secret Sevens nor Famous Five nor Roald Dahl. Anyone can recommend any books that is fiction with some space stories?
If he likes this book, you can get more magic tree house books for him to read. -

My son is 8years old, is it too late to teach him read? He don’t read stories books, only StoryBox & magazine, he looks through pictures & don’t really reads. How to get started with him? Any suggestions?

How about George's secret key to the universe by Stephen Hawkins and his daughter Lucy? If he likes Greek myths he might enjoy the Percy Jackson books. My son loved these.help needed!

anybody can enlighten when to use "Shall" and "Will"?
understand from my colleague, for words after the preposition "to" we no longer base on present tense, we could also use past tense depending on the sentence?

DS dont like to read too, so dw and i have to find books that interest him to read more. Found out about young scientist and it helps. DS now always has his eyes stuck on the magazine and always looking forward to the next one. And i don mind as the mag is about science and he can learn new things in a fun way
Same here. My DD likes to read rainbow magic series because she likes fairies. I cannot find any books which is of interest to my DS so I also start him off with comics such as Young Scientist. :imcool: -

For my kids, the only book that I encourage so much to start with is comic book.
This is a good start. When the kick of reading begins, I will make them borrow more books relate with comics and slowly transit to non-fiction books. You can try this! -
I have never heard of this method. The only comments I have always heard about comic reading is that the parents are always trying to wean the kids off comics or that they regret letting their kids to start reading comics.

My mother (an English teacher) was quite permissive about comics. We didn't start with comics, but she never disallowed them either. Her belief was that reading something was better than nothing. I don't recall she ever had any problems geting us to read other books or weaning us off comics. I'm a very keen reader, and my brother, although not as keen a reader as I am, is also highly educated.
The recent gripe my colleagues have on this topic was about reading Geronimo Stilton books. They said \"the mouse language\" is not good. My kid just started on GS series and I have just bought a whole series for him.... Gosh.... :moneyflies:
