Hi, can I check w existing parents or students.I would like my dd to take normal chinese but she prefer HCL.Will the chinese marks greatly affected the total final marks every year ?I was worried , that if for example she can get 80 marks for NC or 50 marks for HCL,this will definitely affect the total marks ,right ?

With HCL, it almost impossible to get CAP = 5 if that is what you are asking. Yes, it will affect the total grade. -
So if she is not good at Chinese, will it be safer to just take Normal Chinese so as not to pull down her total marks. Unlike Primary school, HCL is calculated separately. Any advice ?

Not very sure abt the test for the y3 intake but suggest you to take a look at the subjects and syllabus covered in yr 1 and 2 in nush.

The con is you still need to take A Level MT if you opt for CL instead of HCL. If you don't mind, it should be ok to take CL. -
Thanks dagong99. Will seriously consider. Do you know if we try HCL in the 1st year, if 2nd year want to change to normal chinese, it will be alright ?

Oh, I'm not too sure about this as DS1 & I are quite determined to 'finish off' MT at Year 4 so that DS1 can concentrate on his triple Science as core subjects. DS1 doesn't want MT to affect his Year 5 & 6 results. He's rather weak in languages, now relying on his Math & Science subjects to 'pull up' his CAP.

Ok. Thanks for your help…Will seriously think of it.

Any students or parents can share their year one results so we can know how the academic standard the NUSH year one students have?
