@poet2010. Agree but are there cases where one go into a top school and fallout half way thru the study....due to aptitude issues?

Yeah. In SCGS if you don't do well enough you will be either retained (doesn't happen often) or transferred to NA in another school since SC only offers Express (starting from next year IP also).

However in schools such as Hwa Chong and other IP schools there are usually 1 or 2 classes reserved for the weakest students that also take O levels despite being in IP. They only kick you out if you're really that bad.

I thought Scgs has duo track, my dd did nt take on their CO even tho I wanted her too cos thought that if she cant cope in Ip, then can switch to O levels instead.
Other colleges like NJC do ask the child to transfer out if their marks are below standard too. I dont know whether they have classes for the weaker ones like Hwa Chong.
Yeah SCGS has dual track starting from next year, but I'm currently a Sec 4 student so I'm speaking from the POV when SC is purely Express.

Skyed, so you’ve just finished your O levels? Which JC are you thinking of going to?

Yes. Probably VJC, it's only around 15 minutes from my place. Though I will appeal to a better JC if I get a good number of A1s.

                Good luck!
Thanks. Though I'd feel weird being the only one in my class going to VJ. Half of my class is either going to HCI/RJC, a quarter to ACSI and the last quarter scattered amongst other mid tier jcs.

Only about 8? secured by DSA, but they’re the type that confirm will get in type. Easily 6 for L1R5 + -4 from HCL and CCA.

                      Hi all,

Most only notice the the top list in Nyps. But I witness my neighbor's child who was posted to a neighborhood sec school last year. Both the child n mother were depressed. They distance themselves from neighbors nowadays.

My niece's schoolmate at scgs, also come from Nyps. For three years, this girl never brief a word of where she came from. Finally, at the end of sec3, my niece discovered that she is a geppers from Nyps. Till now, this girl still feel depressed.......sad right.
I think people need to see these kids as being no diff from kids from any other schools. Going to a good school doesn't guarantee good sec schools for the kids.

I was talking with a friend about psle before the release of psle results. She made this statement,\"What's the point in going to Nyps if you are not going to score at least 240?\" That makes me feel that the public also pose unrealistic expectations on these kids, knowingly or unknowingly.

There are kids with learning difficulties even in Nyps. The majority of the kids get scores below 250. There are kids who go to normal stream. There are kids who scrape past 200. It's unfair to expect kids to do well just becos they don a particular uniform.

I know of kids who feel inadequate when they get 240+ bcos they are among the lowest in the class. But it's nonetheless a good score.

Those are excellent results. Maybe you'll get those results too. 🙂
