I will be very worried if scores of pple are depressed if they are not able to be in the top 10%.

      I-am-in-an-rambling-mood-today. So allow me ramble :please:

      The point is would you be very worried if scores of parents are depressed that their DCs are not in the top 10%?

      If so , time to start worrying 😉

      Ya lor. Very worrying. It has repercussion to the society not to mention their own kiddos.
I have a friend who cried for 3 mths over the child's poor PSLE result. To me, it wasn't even bad at all :oops: , it was about 250. I guess it's all about managing expectations. I wonder how the child felt. :sad:

        When I took my psle in 08 and got 254 and was top 10% my mom cried in disappointment because I couldn't go into the top schools... End up I was actually ok with my score then become depressed over it.

        I hope you are no longer depressed over it.

        Nah, PSLE doesn't really count for much in secondary school. The year I was in Sec 1 was placed in the third class in SCGS. Then there were like 5 people who entered the school with scores of 260+ dropping to the 3rd last class because they heck care and play. And there were those who from 3rd last or 2nd last class (scores of 210-220 for PSLE) improved to the 3rd best class in sec 2.
Good to hear that you are fighting strong

                I don’t think the success rate is very high…

                  >= 250 is considered ... above average.

                        Anyone know how secondary 1 classes are allocated? By PSLE results or randomly? Thanks
