Parents,
please teach your children that it is wrong to go be a prostitute -
just to buy branded gucci or LV or ipad, iphone.
Teach them proper values. -

With high cost of living, many couples are working...kids now are as good as latchkey with just the maid at home. How much do parents understand their kids? My son told me his classmates do not attend supplementary lessons but walk to nearby shopping mall or take a bus to West mall...close to dismissal time, they will then return to school to go home in school bus.Parents,
please teach your children that it is wrong to go be a prostitute -

It’s true. When I take the public transport home with my daughter after CCA during school holidays, the other kids alight at Parkway before making their home after their jaunt. Some of her friends also have Facebook accounts behind their parents back. And with maid, it feels almost like 引狼入舍 in terms of (bad) habits and (negative) influence, though there may be good ones around.

Son told me his classmate lied to tutor about CCA and didn't attend tuition as he hasn't completed his work. Working couples now spend long hours in the office and whatever time is spent at home is so little.
As a SAHM, I am worried too. Every child is different and can't apply same method of parenting. -
It all boils down to the moral fabric - the character - of individuals. As parents, we can only help to shape our children’s character, not through words, but through action. Our kids have probably heard our warnings till their ears have fallen off. But the reflexive action that they take to handle temptation, problems and other issues still depends very much on their own principles.
Unfortunately, principles seem to count for very little in early childhood education. I have seen parents teaching their children to be selfish to their friends, to hide information just so they can have the upper hand. That’s when we have become truly kiasu. -
Unfortunately, with most parents working, children really have minimal guidance. Teachers, whether in childcare or primary school, can only do so much during weekdays. On weekends, some parents also prefer to spend time on leisure/me-time than on kids. It is hard enforcing discipline on kids. I always tell my children to think whether I love them less when I enforce discipline or I love them more when I allow them to do what is not right. If I am their guardian and they are not my children, I will allow them to live a free life.
I have friends whose pre-teen kids use Ferragamo or Hermes products. While it is the parents’ perogative to bring up their children as they deem fit, am not sure how the kids can afford such lifestyle on their own in future. The reality is we cannot be providing for our kids all their life.
I have also come across parents who specifically teach their children to be selfish. It may seem beneficial in the short term but in the long run, the child loses out. DD is actively involved in community work in school since p3 and I personally feel that her life had been enriched by the experience. DS will be starting p3 next year and I also volunteered him for it. True that time from studies is taken away but the personal growth is tremendous. -

It is not just parents..... almost everyone around them...... but esp. the tutors. The first time I heard tutors instructed their students not to tell their classmates about the tips and how to evade answering these questions, I was :yikes: but I've gotten used to such stories.Unfortunately, with most parents working, children really have minimal guidance. Look at what became of Top schools, Cesspit of cut throat competition and most pupils have win at all costs mentality aka 人不为己,天诛我也 的心态。 为达到目标, 不择手段。 No wonder we scored no. 1 in the most emotionless country in the world and scored very low in graciousness. With two parents working now, our educational system should emphrasize on the character building in primary n secondary school now. 我们才能走向优雅的社会和文明。
