Yes. My boy is from Nan Chiau Pri but it is not a SAP school. Nan Chiau High is a SAP school.

      blur me ! :?
i often associate the 4 \"Nan\" schools as SAP schools.
(Nan Chiau, Nanyang, Nan Hua, Tao Nan)

      can clarify:-
are Nan Hua, Pei Hwa SAP school ?
do they start Higher Chinese from ... Primary 1 ?

does P1 in Nan Chiau learn normal Chinese or Higher Chinese ?
why Nan Chiau High Secondary is SAP, whereas primary isn't ?

I don't think Pei Hwa is a SAP school. There are many non SAP schools learn higher Chinese in P1, including Nan Chiau Pri. It has rich Chinese cultural & the P4 & P5 kids go to China for exchange programme. However, the school offers Malay & Tamil as MT. Nan Chiau High has become SAP since last year. I believe that Nan Chiau Pri will become SAP school in years to come.

PH has been a SAP sch for many yrs. The pupils take HCL from P1 till P4; in P5, the less-proficient ones will drop HCL for normal CL. For lower pri, art, music and other non-core subjects are taught solely in MT.

Let's not use what she has shared in a heartfelt manner against her. We are all in this together to encourage one another.

Encourage each other is ok. But not the relentless and unfair bashing of teachers who are voiceless, and therefore defenseless in this forum.

I wanted to ignore this post, but I can't.
If you had gone through the relentless and unfair nonsense I had to put up with son's teachers this year, I don't think you can swallow it either. It would be easier to understand if you can put yourself in my shoes.
If you allow your son to be ostracised by his form teacher, it's fine with me.
Since I'm on this topic, I might as well add in this note. I have sent an email to the school regarding my son being ostracised and the VP has called me to enquire further. I am a parent and I will not allow my children to be put down by anyone.

I am sure 90% of the entire tropical island of SINGAPORE parents will support me in this humiliating issue. Some powerful ones might even seek their lawyers' advice as the humiliation of their kids PRIDE had been shattered !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You’re rite that I’m not in your shoes. Why? Bcos if my dc has weak foundation, I’ll never wait till P6 before I do something about it. I’ll rather spend my time working with him throughout the 6 yrs rather than blaming heaven and earth, at the end of it.

I would also never allow my son’s confidence to be shattered just bcos he has a teacher he can’t click with. I will teach him to be resilient and that in life, there will be good as well as bad teachers. Just get on with it.

Sorry I can’t share more. I need to go work with ds on his foundation while he is still in lower primary, and also to teach him to be resilient.

                Hi fqw,

I notice that you don't post a lot but when you do, you always talk sense. With good writing skills, logical and reasonable, your posts are always lovely to read and serve as food for thought for me. I learn much from reading your posts.

Unlike some others, your posts are never rude, hurting or insulting. But this one.... Er, it will hurt Janet.

Sounds like a knowledgeable professor to me, not forgetting there is a proverb 'every dog has its day'. Here with, may I wish you good luck then to resiliently challenge through the brand new syllabus with your great teachings.

However, if this scenario is happening to your child and yet you can applaud with grace, I will find it incredulous to BELIEVE !!!!!

Eh, can don't be so harsh or not? Different people do things differently. Every child is also different. You are not her and the child is not yours. It's easy to say you will do this and that if it were you, but you are not her.

I think she needs a proper closure to the episode. It has been a stressful year for the psle parents. Give her a break lah.

Janet, it is true that we are not in your shoes to fully understand whether it is just one form teacher, or many of your DS' P6 teachers, or even many of his teachers over his 6 years in this primary school who have done injustice to your DS. It is just sad for me to hear that you felt your son had wasted 6 years. (from reading another of your recent post in another thread) Since you have already written to the school regarding this, I sincerely hope you can get a closure of this matter and move on with your DS in his future learning journey.

I don't know FQW (don't even know if he is Dad or Mom) but I have read many of his posts to believe that he is not trying to be mean to you.

                        Peace.
