Just thought that I can give my 2 cents worth here. I think if you are studying in JC it's best to really concentrate. The syllabus is getting harder. My students who did well for O levels (well as in they got into top-med tier JCs) found the syllabus choking even though they are studying full time.

Most parents will think twice about engaging tutors who charge super low rates. Typical Singaporeans will go huh? Why so cheap? If the rates too high then it goes huh? Why so expensive? :siam:

Would any parent actually hire say a JC student/sec 4 o level student to tutor their child in primary/lower sec? Because I'm a sec 4 student this year awaiting O level results and I was thinking of giving tuition at super low rates but would any parent actually trust their child with such a young tutor?

I don't trust such young tutors. I prefer full-time tutors who can commit. I have had part-time tutors who will keep changing tuition timing/canceling due to their exams and projects due dates. I rather pay more to get someone reliable.

Yes. Same here. experienced it before. thats why i send my kids to tuition centre. The centre dont change time and all i need to do is to bring them there. Sometimes busy schedule and one to one tutor wants to change time, make things very difficult

I was kinda looking for a young tutor 1 month ago just to check my son's work, explain his mistakes, etc on daily basis during the current school holiday to relief my responsibilities . Now it is too late because we are all in holiday mood....

I'm charging $35 for 1.5hr lesson, teaching Math only. But I give the first lesson at $20 only to try out whether I'm a good fit to the child and vice versa.

Doing the trial because of a bad experience teaching a child. Her mother buys so many assessment books that they stacked up to be taller than her, she has tuition every weekday, and she cried when she didn't get full marks in her test. When she cried, the look on her face was like she was worthless because of her grades. And her mum, instead of telling her that she did well (scored 86, top the class) and she shouldn't feel worthless....told her to try again next time.

That was pretty crazy. I wanted to have nothing to do with this lunacy but still had to tahan for 4 lessons. (T.T)
