The Sec 1 textbooks cost around $220, only cash or cheque. We didn’t buy DS’s uniforms from the vendor near the bookshop, prefer to buy from Bibi & Baba @ Far East Shopping Centre #02-28 (I think they should be at the school on orientation days). I find the quality of their uniforms is better. All in all, I spent about $400 for books and uniform.

        Dear Parents of ACS(I) Boys

Hi, my DS1 just got posted to ACS(I) but we live in the east. Is there a private sch bus that goes from the east (marine parade) to ACS(I)? I heard from friend that there is/was and cost around $130 per mth (past yrs’ rates).

Does anyone have the contact number of a private bus company number?

Many thanks for help to provide contact number.

        Regards
        Lindy

          Hi Lindy,

You can contact private bus operator:

          Jonathan Chan 94743637 / 92376510 (brother-in-law Mr Lim)

He told me that they have a current bus that goes from Marine Parade 😄

            Hi, all ACSI S1parents.

We did our S1 reporting and registration today. (today is for the feeder boys.)

There was no briefing, only a quick and simple registration process, and boys are given a kit/pack containing all their need to know about the school.
3rd to 8th Jan is the orientation camp/week, on the 8th Jan the Principal will meet the parents.

For those that are eligible and opted for 3rd language, you will get a letter of your application status when you register. Please remember to remind the registration officers that you are expecting the 3rd language letter. My friend had to return because the officer forgot to hand her the letter.

The buying textbooks n stuff took much longer time, about 1.5- 2hrs.

The school uniforms, PE tank top/shorts, polo T, lab coat, sweater and house T are being sold at the open area at the foyer of auditorium. There are 2 vendors, Bibibaba and Finest Fashion Center.
Fitting is a bit of hassle, as there are no fitting room, so try to wear light so that your boys could just pull over for a quick fitting.

Textbooks vendor is located at another building a short walk away, but no sheltered walkway, so do bring along umbrella if it’s a wet weather tomorrow.
Payment mode is cash or cheque; the queue for cheque payment is much much shorter.
The books are super heavy, so it’s advice to buy it only after buying the rest.

Co-op is at the canteen a level below the auditorium; there you can get the stationaries, compo/writing pads, files etc; school badge, ACSI necktie, ACSI socks and ACSI cooperate yellow T shirt (to be worn on every last Friday of the month.)
All boys would be issue a necktie and a school badge on the first day of school, for those that would like to get the additional set, co-op is the place to go to.

Parents that are driving their boys to to school would have to go to the general office to get a car label; without that your car are not permitted to enter when school opens.

Note: Unverified, it’s compulsory to wear ACSI socks. Co-op is the only place that sells, and the boys at co-op told me it would be too long queue when school opens, unless my son don’t mind to use up his entire recess time to queue for the socks,  so I bought 6 pairs! LOL.

              Hi Mrs Lindy Lee,

I am in ACS(I) going to year 2 next year. I live in Marine Parade and take Jonathan's bus. Please note that school buses to Marine Parade will pick up your son quite early. Likely between 6:10 and 6:30. Some of my friends in and around M.Parade take MRT from Kembangan so that they can leave home a little later.

Haha the 'another building' is the new boarding school block. There is actually a sheltered path to walk, but it's a super long walk that takes you one big round.

Hi guys, a short question: Is Further Maths available for students to take?

                    Thanks!

Not anymore. Further math used to be SL, but it's going to become HL subject. So someone who takes further math will have a combination of math HL, further math HL and 1 other HL subject. It's really skewed towards math. Granted, people taking further math are likely to want to do math in university, but the point of IB is to have a broad based education, and the school does not want to encourage students to be so specialised in math, so it will stop offering further math starting next year I think.

Thanks Twilight! I remember in another post, you mentioned that due to timetabling conflicts, it is not possible to embark on two ab initio languages. is it then possible for a student to take a language B (Chinese B) along with an ab initio language?

No, because both of those are in group 2. It will still have the timetabling issue.

                        Hi, Twilight and Tentacles.

                        Pardon me of my ignorance.

What is Chinese B? It's confusing as Chinese is being categorized into HCL, CL and Chinese B.

HCL and CL are the 2nd Language?
And, Chinese B would be? It's an additional subject? Or is it a compulsory subject?
Under what circumstances does a pupil take up Chinese B?
For pupils that do HCL or CL, do they have to do Chinese B?

Would really appreciate parents of ACSI's sharing, TIA.
