Hi,
I read on this forum quite a bit and has a special need gal who's turning 5 next year. It's hard to find her enrichment classess as she gets older, as the normal environment requires a certain protocol on behaviour (mummies can understand, like sitting down and no running around). Doing it at home is also different, as child do likes to be near other children.
We attended the creative music therapy last few weeks at Olive tree (chance upon it at kiasu parents). It was a start for us, as we have not been doing group activities outside with others for a while. Before that, I attended a free talk at their premises on ADHD, and have got valuable points from the speaker from sparks and understand better how to communicate with my gal. Olive tree was generous with holding the event with no fees, and even provide finger food, refreshment and snacks before, during break and after the event.
Olive tree aspired to be a social enterprise as I heard from their owner Mr Loo Kwong. They are organising an art therapy 05 Feb next year , and I have signed up for the introduction. The event is free, but I am not sure on the basic material cost.
Parents, mummies who like to bring their children for the event please contact Loo Kwong at Olive tree. I understand Loo Kwong have worked in the corporate sector in the past and turned to starting the social enterprise with the encouragement of his wife who is practising PD at forum.

Introduction to Developmental Art Therapy
Developmental Art Therapy harnesses the power of art to enrich the lives of children by promoting creative and mental growth appropriate to their developmental age. It is an approach of building the child’s creative development with art learning and therapeutic support from the art therapist, who not only can develop their cognitive, motor, social and sensory awareness but most importantly, foster creativity and positive emotional growth.
Art Therapist Alvin George Khoo (MA Art Therapy) will be giving an introduction about Developmental Art Therapy and its benefits for the creative and mental growth of children with special needs. Recommended for: Parents or Caregivers who are interested in knowing more about how Art can benefit your child in the developmental and special needs context.

Most young children have some form of oral-motor defensiveness which they outgrow sometime during their toddler years. Children with developmental disabilities often take a much longer time to overcome these issues and it can turn into a nightmare for the family.
This talk will address the 2 pressing issues of dental care and oral-motor desensitization for children with developmental challenges. In addition, tips on how to prepare your child to see the dentist and various methods to reduce oral motor defensiveness in your child will be discussed
Over 12 years ago, knowledge & resources to support Special Needs children in
Singapore were inadequate or just plainly unavailable.. Hilary searched for the best
intervention approaches and even temporarily relocated to the States with her son. She will
share her perspectives on the various interventions she used, the challenges they faced as a family and beliefs that helped them overcome.
About the Speaker
Dr Hilary Thean is a visiting consultant with the Department of Dentistry at National University Hospital Singapore and also a part time clinical tutor at the Oral Health Centre of Western Australia, UWA. She regularly provides dental treatment for children with special needs and the elderly. She lives in Australia and has two lovely children..

I am afraid if she looks after him, he will never get independent.
Else is get maid to look after him... -
My son recently has been clapping hands non stop. He can’t focus and avoid us if we ask him to sit on chair. If I bring him to see OT, can OT train him to focus better and reduce his stimming (clapping hands)? Any recommendation for OT? Thanks.
