Think it only helps a little.

No use if all the rich PR buys the properties within <1km>1km.

Worst if they actually 'buy' the slot from the school.

Still think they shd exclude PR from 2B and 2C.

If PR wants their child in good schools and then take up citizenships

How to \"buy\" the slot fron the school? can you quote some examples?

Agreed. It is one thing to be angry with the government, but another to make such accusation. If you could substantiate your claim with evidence, what you said would garner more support.

This issue of SC/PR/Foreigner is way bigger than 1 extra balloting slip at P1 registration.

IMO, S’pore, given the nature of our economy and how we drive growth and innovation, cannot afford to be provincial in our outlook. What’s the point of getting admission into your favoured primary school only for your children to graduate 16 years later with no high paying jobs because industry had relocated due to anti-foreigner practices?

The role of the government is to ensure that the citizenry has access to jobs, security, health care and education, and we have that in spades. To posture aggressively and drive micro-policies like balloting for P1, IMO, is petty and narrows the political space for the govt to operate, which in my view is detrimental to good, robust policy making.

          I don’t support this measure…

But is the donation linked to P1 registration? Any evidence? I am sure ALL schools accept donation of some kind.

I fully agreed with the above.

Furthermore, if the donation is link to P1 registration, do u think it is open to PR or foreigner only?

For some schools, after you donate, you become a member of the School company, so you end up in a higher phase for your child’s registration.

I vote for number 2. If u are lucky, one ticket will do. If u are not then 2 tickets also no use.

But still, better than nothing, so I am not complaining 🙂

Well, unless you are the person involved, or else how do you know whether the person became a member of the school's management committee because of the donation? 😉

Ooptimizer, please do not be mistaken that I do not believe in what you said or anything like that. It's just that this matter is of grave importance, and hence, we need to be objective. So, the best thing is to provide evidence. 😉

                      agreed with qms.

the topic of donation is very serious, thus we should not speculate and engage in "coffeeshop talk". Provide the evidence if you have else let’s not talk about it.
