As i have explained previously, Prepaid gratuity is a requirement for My Time dining. If you are on my time, you must prepay gratuity.Www:
It sounds like an interesting trip
Could be an interesting trip. First time taking a cruise.
But right now, too many questions about the cruise. Might exceed budget if too many addition costs, on top the price of the tickets cost. :oops:Dnls_mum:
If I prefer to pay gratuity in envelope, do I pay in US$ or S$? What about the paid activities on the cruise? In US$ or S$? Might pay in cash. Why is it auto put me under prepaid gratuity? Email the cruise to see can change.
That means you are too late and traditional dining spot has been taken up so u need to do My Time.
RC is an international cruise line and like all international cruise lines expect cruisers to pay gratuity. Whether My Time or traditional, you still pay gratuity. Gratuity is part of cruising culture. For My Time, you must prepay gratuity based on the recommended rate because you don't have fixed table and could have diff wait staff everyday. For traditional, you can give gratuity in the envelope given to you at the end of the cruise to the wait staff and chambermaid etc. I prefer prepay gratuity even if I am on traditional dining. Save the hassle of ensuring I have enough cash to tip. Treat gratuity as part of your cruise fare. You are not paying extra. It is the std practice for international cruises. It is part of the price.
Can pay less for gratuity or must pay according to the tips' guide?
I notice that in Asia RC seem to impose prepaid gratuity on all guests. I think it is because Asians generally more stingy with gratuity and many times pay less than the recommended. That won't be fair to the service staff and RC may end up with staff being reluctant to sail the Asian Itinerary. Cruise staff have low basic pay and depend a lot on gratuity. It is part of cruise culture and etiquette. If you can afford a cruise, then pay the gratuity per recommendation. Otherwise really not very nice lor.
Thank you.
Just realize the gratuity is already added in the bill. Thought on top of what is paid still got to add on. Cannot remove on my time when buy the tickets. -
Www:
You can call them up and remove My Time timing. I was given a default timing. 8.30pm I think. Wanted to change to an earlier timing but cannot do it online. I called them up and they remove it for me. After that I could go online and change the timing. Anyway, even if you have booked the timing online, u can still change when u on the day itself.
Thank you.

Now much clearer after explanation from the staff.
No need to pay extra since all in the charge. Explain to husband too, so he won't say me for choosing the time and got charge extra for the prepaid gratuity.
Oh I tot you wanted to change the timing. Yes, the gratuity is prepaid. We don't have to pay anything extra. On the other hand, my in laws on international cruise are required to pay though. So it depends. I guess Asian cruise and international cruise are different ba.

Need to bring toothbrush or toothpaste? Allow to bring packet drinks there?
Cash all paid in S$ on board for additional things to buy? -

U can board around noon time. It should be indicated in the information booklet which u can download after u login. I remember having a very relax buffet lunch before the ship set sail.

Drinks are not allowed to be brought in but nobody checked anyway. Toothbrush and toothpaste, usually we brought along our own when we travelled.
All are settled in US dollar on board. I suggest u change unless u don't mind using credit card to pay. I think there is a surcharge for using credit card. -

A little bored after only one day.
We sign up for a short trip only. Nothing much to do, even my child also feels bored. Eat, sleep and watch TV most of the time. The ship is very stable which is a good thing. -
Hi, like to check, for the traditional timing which is reserved seating, will i have to share tables with other people? mine is family of 4, 2D2C
