Yes I am a newbie to CGS...looking forward to the orientation. By the way, may I know what are the school hours like...at least next Wednesday, what time will school end? Are there still early days of school dismissal at 1.45pm?

Ummm...please bear with me for more questions, sorry:
1) Which ccas are twice a week and which ones are once?
2) Are there any house practice days too?
3) Are house practices also for non competitors?
4) When is sports day?
5) CIP involvement, are they usually during school terms or holidays?

Hey there ! This year, for lower secondary, if I'm not wrong, mondays and tuesdays are until 1.35pm, thursdays and fridays are until 3.15pm. Assemblies are usually held on wednesdays, the last period, so it depends. If there's assembly, it ends at 3.15pm, if there isn't, school ends at 1.35pm.

1) Majority of ccas are twice a week except for sports, choir etc which require more training. By right, NPCC and NCC has training once a week but it's usually for very long hours and most of the time, they have extra trainings.
2) I'm assuming house means the different houses for sports day, and no, there's usually no practice unless it's for cheerleading which i think is being cancelled due to the amount of injuries the cheerleaders sustain.
3) No, there's no house practices for non competitors.
4) Sports day usually falls somewhere in July/August.
5) Depending on your cca, some ccas have many opportunities for CIP but you have to find the CIP to do yourself. It can fall in school holidays and during school terms also.

Hi again Yes I am a student, and yes, your parents can attend the induction ceremony. I don't take msp, but the days do vary for each year so there's no definite answer

Very new here. Just wondering what will be the benefit of taking HCL in IP since there is no need for -2 points unlike if one is taking the O level route?
Heard HCL is very tough and if other than the love of the language and there is no other benefit for IP student, thinking of dropping HCL and going for normal chinese.
Any suggestions and comments?

Majority of the students actually take HCL and it's quite manageable provided you consistently do your hw and brush up on your chinese if it's weak. Not taking chinese in year 5 will really give you more time to concentrate on the other subjects. From what I've heard, chinese in jc is really quite tough.

May I know how often you all use the notebook during lessons. Thinking to get a ordinary notebook for my girl but the battery can only last for about 2-3hrs, is that enough for a day? Many Thanks

Hi there! It actually depends on the teacher but I believe its used pretty often in lower sec, and not so much in upper sec. There are power plugs available in classrooms and literally everywhere in school, so not to worry!

For laptop issue, is there any reported case on theft before?[/quote]From what I know, there isn't but there was a girl who has lost her laptop before. The teacher usually goes around checking whether the lockers are locked if the students leave the laptops in the lockers, and if the lockers aren't locked, the teacher usually takes the laptop and calls the parents up about it so no worries.

Thanks for your speedy reply, Individualist. So every student is issued with their own locker? For what purpose as I thought this laptop is brought back home every day? Are they meant for temp storage during cca?

Thanks but not sure if true but heard HCL is very tough and if in IP, no academic benefit.
