DS is taking PSLE next year. Is it better to buy 2012 top schools exam papers or PSLE assessment books from Popular?

I have been buying top school exam papers from Jeremy. Today, when I went down to Bras Basah Complex, there were a few shops selling different exam papers. One is Mr Gan exam papers and the other is from partner in learning. Anyone bought them before? Are their answer keys better, that is less mistakes, etc? Appreciate any feedback.

DS took his PSLE this year 2012. His school teachers gave him lots of 2012 and 2011 papers to practise on. So I gave him the earlier papers 2010 and more challenging revision books from Popular to practise at home, if he had the time.

DS also read model English and Chinese compositions almost every night. It helped a lot in vocabulary, phrasing and storyline. Asked him to treat them like storybooks. šŸ˜‚ His Chinese tutor also gave him lots of oral practice, which is his weak point.

The P6 kids will be under a lot of stress, so as parents do remember to give lots of TLC and tons of nutritious brain food!

P6 kids will be doing one past year paper after another. Oral practice for both English and Chinese is impt as it is a big ticket component. Don't stress your kids further as they will be facing tremendous pressure...encouraging and motivating them is what they need nearing PSLE. Treat them to their favorite food. Moral support helps.

Thanks. It works when I put them in different rooms but I must sit in with one of them! I just wish my son taking PSLE next year can be more focused & motivated.
I think the fact that he's already revising shows he's hardworking.. I didn't even study for my psle till the day before lol..
Actually, he is revising cos I am nagging him to do it & as I allow him to play computer games after revision/homework.
As he is getting 60s for both languages, rather worried.
Most likely, the reason to why he is getting 60s for his language is because he plays computer games. Computer games is a serious waste of time. When I was in P2, P3, P4 I would play compute games for many hours. After stopping in P5 my marks improved by alot! :imcool: Language is my worst subject as it is the hardest to learn :frustrated: . Chinese is the hardest...

            :thankyou:

Having survived the 2012 PSLE with DS, I would like to share that the stress level experienced is zillions times what I experienced during my own PSLE. I wasn't prepared for that level of stress honestly.

Preparing for today's PSLE is like running a marathon...have to do consistent study. Don't burn the midnight oil and always ensure that the kids have sufficient sleep. Be supportive of the kids and appreciate their efforts...be mindful that they don't burnout or become demotivated. Good health and alert mind is essential for this long journey.

Math - understand the concept and know how to apply them, then it's all about practice and more practice. Stretch with challenging questions if your kid can get most of the answers right.

Science - knowing the answer is not enough. Learn how to answer the question to score the marks. That means using the appropriate keywords and correct phrasing.

Languages - if you want the A*, then besides doing well in the main paper, focus on compositions and oral. Both have substantial weightage.

Remember for an exceptional t-score, the child has to be above average compared to his peers.

Good luck to all in 2013 PSLE. Remember to give your kids lots of love and support. :hugs:

Compo and oral are 'big ticket' items...don't neglect.

Hello parents and friends, I visited popular and the staff recommended me this book by Pang Yian, http://maths-digest.com/new/index.php?_a=viewProd&productId=11

She says that volume B and D are important for p6 students. Any advise on this? Thanks!

I agree too! Next year is my younger DS PSLE. I am stressed. DH's expectation of our two son is so stressful... He expecting at least 240-250 for younger DS, as the mother I am stress and burnt out. 2 years ago was elder DS and same stress too cause he also set a target for him.

                        Hi Janet,
Which past year papers will the kids be doing? The booklet form ( past psle questions) sold in Popular or actual top school exam papers?
Would you advise buying the stack of exam papers from vendor cos I am not sure if there will be any duplication?
                        Thanks:)
