Apparently existing Zhonghualians are too quiet here. My dd posted to this school Sec 1 next year. Hope someone will help to stir this thread up.

Is your dd taking up the AEP if offered?

Everyone that I came across told me this school is known for very strict discipline. Sound scary...

Started to worry for my dd..:(

No. My dd straightaway opted out by filling up the optout form.

But will hv to go to the school first before we know which classes our DC are allocated. But from what I see, Sec 1E1 is for those who take up the AEP.

Hi anyone to share about choosing CCA at Zhonghua after Open House on Saturday? Some need to go for selection test and we are still evaluating which is best for our DS.

By the way, our DS is in 1E5 and heard it is the only class where all the students are taking Higher Chinese. The other class is a mixture of Normal and Higher Chinese.

From class allocation, it seems girls are better at Chinese Language as the classes consist of 34 girls and only 9 boys! : :scared:

Go for selection based on your DS's interest, if not selected, then chances to join uniform gp is quite high! UG usually needs more ppl.

I don't know if it's the same for other schools but cca-time in zhss was horrible for me, maybe i dont understand why UGs seniors have to yell and sometimes yank the arms of their juniors to gain their respect, maybe i dont understand why my seniors treated us so badly. I didn't get it in sec1 (i was so flabberghasted), and still don't get it now. My respect for them decreased by the day fyi. I should had listened to my p6 form teacher, 'Dont join a UG'. it's tiring and worse of all my cca was closed down in my 2nd year and merged with another. Do make a wise decision, if you think your daughter is stubborn or can't really tolerate like 70 pushups a day and run around alot, warn her about joining a UG, cause they might be clueless about it like me. I guess you can say im both; stubborn AND get exhausted easily, i got yelled at by my seniors alot cause i can't do a proper pushup. However, if you have a son, it is better to enroll him in NCC or a UG, he would have more experience then and would suffer less in the army šŸ™‚ btws your child wont get scolded if he just abide by the rules, only the dm is strict, and he wont get a personal scolding from him if he dosn't step out of the line. case in point: if you yell or give the teacher the finger you would obviously be dealt with lol.

                        Hi beezlebubz ,

Which UG did you join? If you think that you have been unfarily treated, have you tried to talk to the teacher in charge instead of these \"seniors\" you are talking about?

I guess UG provides a good platform to prepare boys for the army, where the treatment could be even much harsher.

Maybe, just maybe, joining UG could \"harden\" the children (whether boys or girls) and this would train them tolerance and perseverence in the face of adversity, which may not be a bad thing.
