EM = Executive member
may inquire -
what does AM mean ?
is attaining EM - the only way to qualify for Phase 2B ?
from "observer" beginner status to EM level - on average, how many years does it take ? -

You can't just walk to a CC or RC or CCMC and start gaining points for P2B. You need to first become an observer. Even for that there may be a waiting list. You will be observed for a few months and if your conduct is satisfactory - you attend meetings and events, help out in gatherings, etc - you can get to become an Executive Member. That too assuming there are vacancies. Some RC have no vacancies and folks remain observers for months if not years. In order to qualify for P2B in 2014, make sure you become an EM before 30-Jun-2013.joanne cheers wrote:

Assosiate Member.
Average 1.5 years to become EM.
Submit application form, takes abt 6 mths then PA will invite you to the first meeting as an observer. Then on it depends on how active the observer is and whether there is any vacancy. Otherwise have to wait for at least a year or so. To be more kiasu, the moment move to the new house, start to join the RC. At least people wont talk behind the back once the child successfully entered P1 thru phase 2B.
Some member has changed their IC address, still has to cheek to stay on instead of transferring membership to another GRC. This selfish member occupies the vacancy.
Hopefully PA will have implement a more stringent rules regarding. This is only applicable for RC. -
Thanks, octoberbaby for kind info.
are there cases whereby -
one remain as an "observer" for a long, long time, but still couldn’t make it to "Executive" member in time, by the latest dateline "30 June", due for P1 registration ? -

Yes, there are cases. But somehow, there loop holes in one of the GRC surrounded by famous schools. Thanks, octoberbaby for kind info.

Usually the observer will start to bark at the Chairman how come still not becoming EM.
From there, true colours will show that this person only interested in phase 2B not passion serving the community. Very very ugly cases. -
octoberbaby you are beginning to sound like a RC member who has been ‘victimised’ by your chairman/manager…
take it easy la… if RC is not the way then try other means. If no choice left, then move on and choose another primary school. not end of world. -
Even when one apply for PV, we are also subject to all these supply-demand, ‘unfair’ or kelong issues. It is everywhere no matter which route one takes

Only the thick-skin ones survive

My kids had their lucky stars at that year, ballotted into the sch we were longing to go.
People complaint to me, that's why i symphatize with them. -
every year or batch -
is there a quota limit in the number of letters issued for Phase 2B ?
if Yes, what criteria based on, to decide which observer will receive the letter ?
example (scenario):-
Parent Volunteers (PV) in hot schools like Rosyth had been abolished / Catholic High suspended.
If hundreds of PVs now flock to GRL route (the only solution left, to join 2B), how does each GRC handle the sudden sharp rise / surge in number of Grassroot Activity applicants, via PA ?
or how does PA approve who to be selected as an entry observer ?
if say there're 100 applicants now -
does it mean all 100 will end up as Grassroot Activity leaders, or only half (50) ?
