For science, history and geography, I plan to let school teachers take the lead...these are subjects which require reading up. Literature is the one I worry about. The textbooks seem quite comprehensive...but I have not glanced through. Not in the mood to do so. Must enjoy myself before school starts....have to 看着钟 once school term begins

Just now I dashed to look for the booklist to search for that big L.
Phew! I think it is part of the English subject. :yikes:
No txtbook but only 3 story books/novels.

I wish there could be a preparatory course for parents to familiarize with
sec 1 syllabus. So far I am very blur and lost. :shock:

Hi, can anyone advise what good Maths assessment books to buy?

No tuition. Need to self learn at home. :?:

My ds used only Mathematics Tutor, by Lee Ann Goh, Casco in the last 2 years. He found it good as it had worked examples and a range of easy to difficult practice questions. No tuition, just self study. Managed A1-A2 consistently.

Yes, my DD is also using the Books 1A and 1B for practicing of mathematics after the mid year and she got an A1 for SA2 exam.

For Literature I think what’s most important is a good teacher. Because lit is a subject you cannot really just mug and get an A1 or A2. Whereas for geography all you need to do is mug and confirm A1. History is a lot like lit, you can’t really mug it either.

Agree, I like Mathematics Tutor too. Ample questions in varying difficulty range for reinforcing practice.

I also like Lower Secondary Algebra by Alex Lim (Mavis Tutorial Centre) published by SAP. The notes are clear and concise, worked examples and questions are paced progressively. The answer key has detailed step-by-step solutions. It's a fantastic resource which comprehensively covers the fundamentals of Algebra.

Yup, agree. I'm more inclined to pay tuition fee for Lit than Math at Sec 1. Just that passionate Lit/Language Arts teachers are not easy to find.

Haha yeah. I was super lucky to get an amazing lit teacher in sec 3 that continued with my class to sec 4. Hoping I get an A1 for lit so I don't disappoint her.

Not everyone is happy after posting results esp those who are not posted to their wish choice. Worse, two of my friends kids being posted out of six choices to some randum school. Many appeals gping on. My child hv appealed to 3 schools and the schools started calling successful candidaes sinve last fri and this morning and she jave not receive any calls and felt very sad…

I remember having a wonderful fresh-from-NIE teacher in Sec 3. Unlike other Lit teachers who came to class and merely read the texts to us, she taught us to draw pictures after each chapter. That helped some of us to learn and remember well.
