Here you go:

Wed: EL- STELLAR Handwriting Portfolio, Math- Activity bk Part 1 & 2, MT Activity bk 1A

Thurs: EL- Exploring Reading & Wordbank bk & Comprehension Skills bk,
Math- Homework bk 1A, MT- Square exercise bk & jotter bk, Health Ed- Activity bk

Fri- EL- Grammar workbook P1 & pink file, Math- blue file, MT Civic & Moral Ed Activity bk & yellow file, Social Studies- Activity bk & purple file

The teachers will be keeping these books in school for your kid. Also, for the first 3 days of school (2 - 4 Jan), P1 recess will be from 9.45 to 10.15am. P1 dismissal will be at 1.15pm.

That's the key info in the handbook.

If I remember correctly, the last page of the handbook lists out the books to bring for the 1st 3 days of school. The timetable will be given to the kids during the 1st week of school.

Do students need to take diagnostic tests first?

I don't think there was any test, at least, there's none that I was aware of.

Btw, my DS will be in P4 in 2013 and I do remember that he was asked to go to school so that the teacher could 'interview' him back then when he was about to start P1. He later told me that he was asked to read something in English. But I didn't remember my DD doing this \"interview\" this year.

The school just tries to make sure that there is another student from the same kindy in the same primary one class, just so they don't feel so alone. Quite a good idea, I thought. It's definitely not according to ability, so parents need not fret about preparing the kids for tests, etc.

Juz a question: Is the "Portfolio" after "STELLAR Handwriting" a separate item? And in this case "Portfolio" referring to the big white arch file?
I felt they shd at least number or bullet the list of books to bring…
