Spot on! A nephew of mine was flicker-minded in his appeal. His parents were called by a CCA coach of a reputed sch in the east. His PSLE t-score is 22x and the COP of that sch is 246 (express). They somewhat reluctantly put in an appeal at the very last minute, granted an immediate interview as a formality, but then turned it down eventually.Coolkidsrock2:
Where the T-score is far from the COP, then will need to see if the child excels in the school's niche CCAs but it will also likely depend on whether there is a need from the school's perspective. Eg, if the child is a striker but the school needs a defender, then it will be difficult.
That is right. If a child excels in certain cca, or sports, it would help to approach teacher in charge or coach directly, most of time, when coach recommends, there is high chance to win appeal, even transfer.
To see so many needing a place so badly in that sch and yet such a case exist is puzzling. Good luck to those are trying to get into that sch for there will be one place under CCA for the taking. -

My son was called on 27 Dec 2012 and was successful in his appeal to SJI. So happy.
So efficient as the school conducted a briefing on 28 Dec afternoon on reporting, uniform and books buying etc. My son has started preparing and will blend in well with his schoolmates on 1st day onwards… Anyone has anything to share on this school? -

Anyone successfully appeal to commonwealth? called the school, was told that my DD is still on the waiting list.
My dd successfully appeal to commonwealth -
I called up certain schools to ask about the selection criteria. Apparently, it is the p/vp to make decisions. Some not by merit, like that very subjective right? If no medical condition, no other special talents, no particular cca… Like this child with <10 pts to cop, we were thinking what else.could it be clan kind of connection, in this case, Ngee Ann Kongsi…

These people are making things difficult when genuine appeal applicants are anxiously waiting to gat an answer ASAP, if possible before school starts. -
