Question:

Must the kids bring ALL the text books? I dread that - it is so heavy on them! What can they NOT BRING on the first day? Any chers here to give your kind advice?

I usually tell my kids to just bring some exercise books, their empty files, and a notebook. No point bringing text books since timetable is not out yet.

My kids' school also sent out the email saying for the first week of school, Week 0, the things to bring to school;\" pencil case, water bottle, story book\" :rahrah:
Thanks for all your advice! :rahrah:

Just finished writing/sticking stickers with names on all the books and exercise books. Bit worried as DD used to sleeping until nine plus. Guess will be fine everything after a week. My DD is very excited to go to school.

We are also used to sleeping till 8+ everyday. ๐Ÿ˜ข
Come Wed, it will be 6am. Bet we will all knock out at 4pm when kids return from school. Son has orientation for the first 3 days. Daughter should end at 1pm on Thur/Fri.

Exactly words.. \"Hurray.. finally school starting..\"..

Your kids need a heavy dose of reality. Send them to uncle CKS.

            Reality is they enjoyed School.

I don't see any issue with it. Perhaps you can share more?
:? I thought it's a good thing kids are eager to start school? What reality does uncle CKS want to impart? :rotflmao:

Mummy here doesn't want school to start though...but all good things must come to an end. Time to get those engines roaring again or they will rust.
When son goes to secondary school, time will pass faster.

              It really does.

1 week...7-8 subjects, longer hours. Every week will pass faster. I am going to be breathless...understand there are going to be several tests on top of exams. Son has to wake up to reality and time management.
Aren't the kids supposed to be taught to be independent..? Why parents get so stressed over it leh? The kids are the ones who's supposed to be stressed if they got tests. It is their test, their results, not parent's.

They are supposed to have a sense of ownership.

My reality is that my kids, while claiming that they are bored and want to go back to school, are still sleeping past 10pm and waking up after 8am. And it's back to waking up at 5:45am for all of us ๐Ÿ˜ข

No problems for my kids. For the sake of going to school, they keep on pestering me to get an alarm clock for them so that they do need to reply on me to call them.

I can trust them to wash up, take breakfast, put on uniform everything then just call me to bring them to bus stop..

Yesโ€ฆsense of ownership. That I agree.

But to expect my 12 year old to grow up overnight? That will take perhaps 1-2 weeks to adjust to new school (Sec 1) curriculum. I am planning my daughterโ€™s schedule now.

Same here! This morning, mine slept till 11am :faint: Sure got problem waking up all our kids on 2 Jan. ๐Ÿ˜“

                    Only Jan 2nd ??!!
                    From Jan 2nd ๐Ÿ˜ข :gloomy: ๐Ÿ˜ข

My alarm regimeFirst alarm 5:20am- Enough to do do some stretches and sip coffee, and smell the roses. Snooze 15 mins.
Can ignore. Where got roses anyway? ๐Ÿ˜†

Second Alarm. 5:40am Wake up now and there will be no haste.
                    Snooze 13 mins.

                    Third alarm . 5:55am. Snooze 2 mins.
Get out of the bed Now NOW NOW

So I have alarm going off at 5:50, 5:53, 5:55, 5:57, 5:59,6:00. if I press the snooze button.
Enough to wake up the dead, ๐Ÿ˜‰

The only time this fails is when the phone has no charge. Time to get a Plan B alarm clock.

I do not use snooze anymore and my alarm is set without any buffer.

when the alarm rings, i know i have to get up or i will be late, somehow have no problem getting up and getting ready fast. plus i get to sleep to the max.

:imcool: Haha, I would have no problem. We have been waking up 6:30 am most of this whole holiday, except when we were overseas.

So disciplined?! You run your household like military camp izzit? :nunchuk:
