Hi sunj1252 & firefly

Can share your ds experience in Scouts so far and whether you would encourage anyone to join this CCA ? My ds going to RI next year and he may join Scouts.. am concerned if this CCA will take up a lot of his time and how many camps in a year ?

Because my ds does not have specificial sports, art or music gift, he joined 01 Scouts uniform group. Every Monday and Wendesday afternoon from 3.30pm to 6.45pm, sometimes activity on Saturday. They were asked to join several school camps for 3 - 5 days. There are a total of 3 major school camps, one for each school holiday. In this CCA, the boys have more physical training and learn outdoor skills.
Thanks sunj1252 for the info. Do they have to do jobweek & is it during the sch hols also ? For the camps, are they all compulsory ? 5 days camp is a long time ! I hope the trainings will not be too strenuous for them !
In my mind they were arranged two days' Jobweek on weekend, to clean hourse for residents and collect some money. The Scouts camps are compulsory if no acceptable reason. Every boy has a record for accumulate activity hours for each year. A minmum hours must reach. The camps makes the boys more independent.

        Orientation Camp 2013

Can someone advise if for orientation camp tmr, do they need to bring a small bag when moving around during the camp (to carry water bottle, poncho etc) ? They are advised to just bring one haversack/duffel bag for everything…

Does anyone know if MEP selection result is out? If so, where to find it?

          Thanks a lot!
My son came back home after his three days SCOUT camp. SO DIRTY and SO TIRED.

DS came home from 2D1N RV Camp, tired but not dirty..
DS says there were lots of outdoor activities (DS looks like a lobster now), but no choir practices at all, during the camp..
DS says they slept in the air-conditioned classrooms.. πŸ˜„

Saw so many RI boys in J8. What are they having? Looks like Y2 in 2013

The Year-2 (2013) boys had a briefing on the Malaysian Montage Trip that morning, followed by soccer games. Most of the boys would walk to J8 to have their lunch before going home. DS went for movie with his friends after lunch at J8.. πŸ˜„

Wish to check if the school gate outside Marymount MRT station is accessible by sec 1 students in the morning?

DS will take public transport home, by himself, for the first time. Starting to feel anxious.... :nailbite:

The S1 boyes will have school camp starting tomorrow, am I right?

                  yes..3D2N
Strangely, I don't feel so worried about the camp. Perhaps it's because DS has attended quite a few camps in primary school. He packed his bag himself. πŸ˜„

Don't think DS packed a small bag. Probably don't need it since not in list. If need then I think the boys will think of something... Like using a plastic bag. Not so presentable but serves the purpose. πŸ˜‰

Yes, it is accessible to all Rafflesians.. On rainy days, it is better for the boys to alight at Marymount Station (instead of Bishan Station) as there is sheltered walkway all the way from the station to the school compound.. But they have to walk past the JC Section to go to the Sec Sch Section.. May take a little longer but better than getting wet on rainy days.. πŸ˜„

Is it thru tapping their ezlink card? If so , is the activationof their ez link card done automatically right from first day of school or the students have to go somewhere activite it? My boy was told they have to wait for the jc students tap for them today.
