Hillo, thank you for the response, almost tot no one saw tat
Hibigpotato:
Hi everyone, would like to check my chances for getting into these ccas:
Tennis: school team but reserve
Bowling: play with family, not too bad but always below 100 points
Badminton and table tennis: know the basics
Choir: no prior experience but was selected for something idk what
Shooting and archery: interested but no prior experience but know basic
Netball: I'm quite tall and I played interclass this year
Softball: played before as the person who bats
(Don't count merits)
I prefer racquet and ball sports
Appreciate anyone's help
happy new year in advance!
I'm a current y2 from rgs
About your chances of getting into the ccas,
Tennis: my friend (also Y2) managed to get into tennis cca even tho she wasn't even in tennis school team in primary school, so I should think u stand a chance of getting in. Just go for the trials, I heard its mostly basic stuff like groundstrokes, serves, etc. however, apparently they're only accepting one Y1 this year as they have already accepted many DSA tennis people, so it should be harder this year
Bowling: I'm not too sure about this (sorry!!!) but since u don't have any 'experience' (eg competitions etc.) in this cca (apart from playing with ur family), it should be harder to get in
But if u really want this cca, no harm trying!
Badminton / Table tennis: These ccas are really competitive & hard to get in (from what I've heard)! Only about 1-3 people got in for my year anyway
Even someone (my classmate) who was in the badminton sch team in primary school couldn't get in...
so yea it should be pretty difficult for u
Choir: U dont really need much experience to join choir, just as long as u can sing
I know someone who got into choir with, like, zero experience so u have a fair chance of getting in
Shooting: Most people don't have any experience in this at all so if u know the basics, that's already pretty good
anyway, they'll basically let u shoot with the air pistol & rifle and then test your balance (I went for trials).
(Btw, I thought RGS doesn't have an archery cca? At least they didn't have for my year...)
Netball: if ur tall, that's an advantage (they want tall ppl haha) and if you've played for interclass before, that's good too cos then u have experience. U have quite a fair chance (I think) so u should definitely try out if u want to join
Softball: you have quite a high chance of getting in since u have experience in batting
They accept many people and I know a lot of people with no experience in softball who got in
Anyway, hope that helped and GOOD LUCK

Hi everyone, today when going to school, I was filled with a sense of pride and a had a stomach of nerves. But after going into the school, receiving a warm rafflesian welcome with cheers and games, i was much relieved! The school was nice, although some talks were long and my legs were numb, I enjoyed the atmosphere. The PSLs for my class were really friendly and helpful, and I felt blended in. We learnt the school song and cheers-- really wonderful
but really, I enjoyed today.
However, I have some queries,
- CCA orientation is about...?
- the orientation booklet states that we are supposed to wear culottes and pe tshirt on badge initation but aren't we supposed to wear full school uniform?
TIA,
Potato -

One friend from TAG scored 271...she is considered mainstream, I think. (I scored 270...ARRRGHH)
Hi, If your friend is confirmed a mainstreamer but in a GEP class now, then not all mainstreamers with above 270 t score (ie at least 271) are in GEP classes. -
Choco05:
It has long been like that. I was one, 2 years ago too

Yep I am aware of prior years practice. But this year seems different. I hope someone can confirm that she is a mainstreamer with a t score above 270 in classes 119 to 113 this year. There are mainstreamers with t score above 270 not in the GEP classes now.
And there is no DSA sports class too. The DSA sports girls seem to be spread out now. -
alng:
It could be that the aggregate for joining the GEP classes is higher this year, maybe low 270s rather than 270 of previous years? It depends on how much space there is left in the GEP classes after allocating the GEP students, and the top mainstream scorers are then placed in those classes.Choco05:

DSA sports girls have always been distributed across classes. There's no one class with all or many DSA sports girls. -

Jtoh is right. Heard from DD that there are 35 gals in her class (GEP classes). In the past it is only around 32 gals. -

In CCA orientation there will be booths set up by respective CCAs (with lots of effort and love put in haha) and you can find out more information of each respective CCA such as their training days, duration, what they do, what qualities they are looking for and such! You can also try out some of the CCA activities, and get lots of stickers!Hi everyone, today when going to school, I was filled with a sense of pride and a had a stomach of nerves.
