Any other parents here find that the school's handbook is really flimsy. Spoils and tears easily?

My son from another school's is very firm and good. For a boy, his was still in great condition by the end of the year. But for SMPS, my gal's couldn't last through mid year! 😞

no, it's the Diary, where they write down their homework, to bring, to do, etc.

Hi ezmummy (sorry somehow I can’t reply with quote)…

I was trying to search for 2012’s P1 registration exercise results to see how was the situation with Phase 2C but I kept getting previous years.

Anyways, what is the likelihood of success of getting into SMPS for those outside of 2km? Also, I know that there is a Phase 2A for parents who were former students. I’m wondering if the school recognise parents from SMSS to qualify for this category? (I know SCGS does) It would be great if it does because my primary school no longer exists but I was a former student from the secondary school though. I can’t do PV because it would be too late now…so Phase 2B is definitely out.

Hi ponyo, thanks so much for your help. I’ll get it from Popular then. DD says bookshop queues are too long before school and during recess. Plus she has her P1 to jaga too.

Hi parents, my daughter jus started p1. Did e form teacher inform yr child abt buying e handbook? We didnt know we need to buy handbook until yesterday first day of sch. Tdy is second day of sch n my daughter says teacher scolded them for nt buying e bk yet. Based on above feedbk, if bkshop has long queue, then hw does a p1 child purchase e handbook? Appreciate any advice. Tks!

Regarding the handbook being flimsy, I wrapped my DD’s with the usual plastic wrapper last year and it survived very well. So this year, I wrapped it again. It is also possible to buy a ready-made plastic cover from Popular.

I also tied a ribbon (about 30 cm long) to the spine of the handbook so that my DD can use it as a bookmark. This way, she can use the ribbon to get straight to the page for the present week. It minimizes flipping around (and therefore wear and tear) and also allows her to get to the page for the week very quickly.
