Hi py85,
My gal started p1 yesterday. Not much feedback so far. Didn’t experience much. We also have not started student care at st. Joseph. Will prob start tomorrow.
How was your gal’s day 1? -
My dd had a great day at P1 yesterday. She has a good buddy.
I peeped in during recess today and all is well too.
I asked abt the handbook, teacher will issue today or tomorrow. Timetable also tomorrow. Those P1 who bought the handbook/diary, they will work with bookshop to refund as we already paid for it during orientation.
Is there still vacancy at student care? I’m considering that too.
How much is it?
How does our DD go there, do we fetch them? And is there any transport back? -
Hi,
mine have not get into the sch yet… but would like to hear feedback so to gain experience… haha …Thanks! -
ya, hope to know more about the student care also…
was thinking whether is it good and convenient to put my gal there. -
Hi Parents,
I am an ex-student of the school and have graduated for quite long already. My mother used to face the same problem with regards to the bus transport. The prices quoted to you by Xin Sheng is reasonable.
Do be prepared for further price raise in the near future. During my entire 6 years with the school, prices for the bus transport increased by a lot. Do consider letting your daughter take the public transport when she reaches Primary 5, especially if you live nearby or have a direct bus home. It helped save some money.
The bus operators do their pick ups very early in the morning, which I feel is a waste, when the school starts much later than other schools at 8am.
Food wise, it is strict. If I am not wrong, there are only vending machines that sell healthy drinks such as milo, apple juice, green tea and chrysanthemum tea. This is due to a major food poisoning situation about 15 years ago when they still had a drinks stall. I still remember that the Principal then did not allow the sale of fried finger food alone, e.g nuggets, seaweed chicken. Students had to buy beehoon or rice to go along with it. Portions are small and it is quite expensive. So, give your daughters enough money for recess or pack some food for her.
Do share who are the form teachers of your daughter and how their first day of school went!

What’s the name of the other transport companies that go to CHIJ OLQP?
My daughter’s first 2 days were good . She seemed to have enjoyed the new experience. Her buddy was quite "motherly", so it helped!
The arrangement of the boarding of buses at school dismissal could have been better arranged I thought. The other non p1 grades were looking around for the right school bus to board. And the bus driver was like asking where the other students were!? I didn’t understand why the parking/pick up slots of the designated buses were not pre-assigned and informed.
I suppose going forward the buses will pick up from a fixed place so the students will know where to proceed. Day 1 and Day 2 pick up points were different) -
Yes, it was chaotic on day 1 in school at dismissal when kids went to their buses. I think bus arrangement will be better by next 2 weeks when routine is more settled. The pick up and drop off timings might also be more \"accurate\".
I'm just happy my DD arrived home safely. I have heard horror stories from frens in other schools where kids were dropped off at wrong stops!
Their buddies are good and I'm really thankful to them. My DD says her buddy is her best friend.
All the buddies seem to take care of their charges very well and I'm very touched by their attentiveness to their young charges. I told the VP that she has very good girls.
Hopefully, things will go well in class when lessons begin and that they will have good teachers. My DD is in 1 Charity. Anyone else in that class? -
my DD also had a good experience on Day 1 and day 2 and she said that her buddy is very nice to her. Day 1, I brought her to school and also brought her home, Day 2, I brought her to school but asked her to take the bus home, as I went home already after recess time. Today, Day 3, allowed her to take the school bus in the morning.
Observed her during recess time, on Day 1, she did not even eat, just went walking around with her buddy. on Day 2, I reminded her to eat first before walking with her buddy. And she did…
by the way, just want to know your thoughts about poo habits, my daughter always have to be reminded to poo everyday… on the last 2 days, I asked her to drink 2 glasses of water as soon as we reach home and asked her if she wants to poo, she said she dont… finally after asking her 3 times (at about 5pm) she poo’ed already.
Another parent said her dd, have normal poo routine , and poo’es at about 9am to 10 am…on Day 1 and Day 2 her dd poo’ed at around 6am–with coaxing… …Day 3, the girl did’nt poo before school, so the parents are quite worried today… as we have observed that the toilet cubicles does not have toilet paper, they have to go outside the cubicles to take toilet paper, and honestly our dd’s are not trained to wipe themselves yet.
looking forward to your inputs…about their "outputs" -

Oh yes, scary incident happened to my friend's dd in another sch whereby she fell asleep on the bus on her way home. The driver din notice it and aft all the children have alighted, he drove the bus (with the sleeping child) back to the bus depot. The child was locked inside the bus and no one noticed that until the parents called.Yes, it was chaotic on day 1 in school at dismissal when kids went to their buses. Thus, I told my dd, never to fall asleep on the sch bus. -

on Day 1, I saw the girls sitting at the hall, waiting for the school bus to pick them up. I noticed that the school bus drivers dont have assistants. When my dd was still in kindy each school bus driver have an assistant, and these assistants helped in the logistics..Yes, it was chaotic on day 1 in school at dismissal when kids went to their buses. so I decided to bring my girl home on Day 1, and informed the school bus operator, the operator called one of the girls with the list.. and told me I must inform them if I am taking my girl home, instead of having her to take the school bus (which I actually did).. the girl with the list, noted something down (against my dd's name on the list)-- which I assumed means she acknowledged that I am taking my girl home.
My mobile phone battery is flat that time... apparently they called me several times after we have left (we decided to go to Lot 1 first to buy something and also had some snack).. the FT was panicked thinking they lost my girl. As soon as I arrived home my mother told me that the FT and bus operator kept calling and looking for us. Finally the FT called again and this time I got to talk to her... and explained to her that I did inform the operator and a girl with the list made some notes on her list. FT apologised and said it must be miscommunication between the driver and the girl with the list...
Sorry for the inconvenience....
