2013 PSLE Discussions and Strategy

DD says no teaching this week. They are involved in the buddy-for-P1s.

Both...actually. She didn't really fail or anything but not fantastic either. But what worries me most is her attitude. She always verbally says she wants to do well and will work hard...but somehow her 'spirit is wiling but her flesh is weak'. She argues a lot when I try to get her to do some work...sigh
challenging but I try to remind myself whether heavy hearted, breathless or not..I am not the one sitting for the exam so I shouldn't let my emotion and mood affect DS. Only can stress and sops behind closed door
Of course, sometimes will accidentally show on the face or in my tone of voice but if possible, will try to create a normal environment for him to cope with the stress. If I really feel that I cannot control, will walk away and exercise really hard, charge my body up with Endorphins! KSP here is another great comfort, can pour your heart out :hugs:
btw, are you worried because of your DD P5 result or her attitude towards PSLE? -
KSmom8:
Congrats to your son having done well in PSLE last year.
My DS is the diligent and disciplined sort...well, most of time. Sometimes, he needs a push but most of time, there's no need to. Had to make sure he remained motivated till PSLE, and don't burnout. Thought a short holiday was a good idea but he was soooo against it. In the last few months before PSLE, my aim was not to add pressure at home, give lots of hugs and TLC, cook his fav food, lend a listening ear and getting him to bed early.
If your DS is already feeling stressed than I think a short break is good...something to look forward to when he is stressed and tired...also both you and him can recharge before the final preparation to PSLE.
Yup, I felt that breathlessness.... And helplessness.... And sudden panic. Don't worry, it'll pass. Don't let kids see. Just focus on what you can do...devise a strategy / plan for revision?.. monitor progress and focus on what he needs to do to get the A*?.. how to reduce the stress and bring a smile on his face? etc. Be there to help, support and encourage.
The whole 2012 PSLE episode has brought DS and I closer...it was difficult...but looking back, it was also memorable.
All the best for the 2013 PSLE!
Your ds reminds me of my ds who sat for his PSLE in 2011. But not for my dd who is sitting for PSLE this year.
Totally different attitude.
People usually say when u hv two children, one will be very different from the other. That seems to be true....for my case. -
my dd come back and busy just to decorate the classroom too.

Sigh... I think 2 days adjusting back to school by doing almost nothing is a waste of time when PSLE is just 7.5 months away.... I am so worried our children are decorating their classrooms while other schools already full speed giving homework... -

off topic...but my son in sec 1 this year had to decorate classroom today...what for ? :?gtayc:

not all schools giving homework...but you can start coaching your daughter for chinese and english in advance since these are languages...build up the momentum at home if the school is still in 1st gear...or else the child will feel the stress when the school suddenly gears up. -
Gone through it in 2011 not knowing what to expect, how to be worried, what to worry, what to prepare, thought going through it again this year should not be that much stressful, anxious, frightened, panicky- BUT, it’s WORSE, having gone through it, NOW KNOWING what to expect, how to be frightened, worried, stress, anxious…and this candidate is so different than the one in 2011. Snake, slithers slowly, so very slowly…

My snake is also a slow snake. Watching him do things is like watching everything in slow motion :stupid: Last year I told him that if he works like that in the office, for sure he will be fired.
Yesterday I observed him doing his work and for every 5 minutes of work, I noticed that he spent 5 minutes finding things, yakking, singing, dancing gangnam style and other useless things. His productivity is very low :faint: -
Joining in, but yet to start countdown to psle preparation. I'm more worried than the actual child taking psle?!? :nailbite: haiz....

normal...very normal :frustrated:
throughout the whole of last year, i felt like going to the exam hall to take the psle on his behalf...my son was like tortoise crawling...when doing his work, dropped pen, paper and took his time to pick them...then thirsty, yawned, hungry, toilet breaks. you name it
