      Hi all,

My dd1 has just transferred to RGPS P4. I am overwhelmed by the traffic situation in the morning and when fetching her after school. Any tips from parents?

      Hi chlobe,

I have the same problem as you when my girl was transfer to RGPS last year.
At first I let her take the school bus,but it was too early for her to wake up everyday.
To avoid the traffic in the morning, try to reach school about 6:40am.Not much traffic at that time.Fetching back from school, well I always be there about half and hour before the school end.Because I always drive into the school to pick dd up.If not you can ask your dd to walk out to the main road and you pick her up and go.

The last way is to take the school bus.

        Thanks for the reply!

Our initial plan was school bus too but after finding out the schedule, it seemed that our place is the 1st pick up and last drop off and she would need to board the bus at around 5.45am. Hence we dropped that idea and decided to drive as I have to send my younger girl to kindi as well.

First 2 days I was able to drive in to pick up. Today the situation seemed extra bad. I was about 20min early but the queue of parked cars was beyond hillcrest and already along dunearn rd. I was quite shocked so decided to try to find parking ( which was quite a nightmare) and walk in. DD1 was waiting at playground area but today parents were not allowed in anymore.

I am really new to the hillview area and the RGPS traffic. Wonder if it is better to wait out along dunearn rd to drive in or try to park and walk?

Is Maths Olympaid training only offered to selected P5 students at RGPS?

Understand that some other schools start to offer MO training to their students from P3 level.

From what I know from my dd, the whole class of hers was offer the Math Olympaid training.

Yeah coz my dd went to a different class for her maths

                  inquired before.
                  this year 2013 P1 got 9 classes (270 pupils) : ie. Primary 1A to 1I.

but heard that next year 2014 P1 intake (ie. kids born in 2007, golden pig) -
will be cut to 8 classes (ie. intake become smaller, drop to 240 pupils from 270).
However, balloting for Phase 2B and 2C July 2013 P1 Registration will still be based on our permanent Hillcrest road address, not this temporary 2 years' Mount Sinai address.

And we'll start lessons in January 2014 at 53, Mount Sinai road (Holland).
This used to be our ex / former Raffles Junior College premises, once upon a time.
Sometime in November this year - after current Henry Park pupils shift out of premises, RGPS will move house, shift in.

likewise, 2015 P1 (kids born in 2008) and 2016 P1 (kids born in 2009) single session take off intake will follow the same number of intake as 2014 P1 intake, ie. also 8 classes. Don't worry, won't slash further to 7 classes.

Speaking from experience, i either arrive half an hr earlier or half an hr later for the the pickup to avoid the jam. During other peak hr like HMT lesson the queue can extent to NYGH bus stop.
