        Hi,

My DD had been attending Berries since nursery 1 & had really enjoyed the class. She's in K2 now n prep for P1 next year. I'm just wondering if I should pull her out of Berries & change to a more 'serious' enchrichment ctr like Tien Sia or yu quan? (As I heard berries are more 'fun' with activities in the class)

For parents with Primary sch children attending Berries, is the lesson still have fun activities incorporated? Or it's more 'serious' classroom based learning already?

        Thanks for your advice. 🙂

I found out from my child’s K2 Chinese teacher at Tien Hsia saying that Tien Hsia is incorporating Hanyu Pinyin into their classes on top of learning new Chinese Vocabulary words. There will be more focus on speaking and reading as they are following the MOE Chinese syllabus. She shared that there will be Spelling twice a term. The Chinese K2 enrichment has been extended from 1h 30min to 1 h 45 min. She shared that the K2 worksheets for 2013 will be different from 2012. She also advised that the child not be late for class as there will be lots for her to teach. Glad to know that Tien Hsia has done some adjustment to their K2 enrichment curriculum to prepare children for Pri 1 next year.

any comment on Tien Hsia for P4/P5?

                    thanks.
DS1 was with TienHsia from P2 to P6. From P3 (Term4 ) to P6, he was also enrolled in the writing and comprehension class. In P3 ( sch hol ), I enrolled him in Berries writing and oral class. He also tried out Berries P5 for 1 term. We wanted to evaluate which was better for him.

DS1 preferred Tien Hsia enrichment as syllabus was more challenging and worksheets more difficult. The Berries writing and oral class was preferred over Tien Hsia's writing class but in upper Primary, this was merged with enrichment and lesson was 3 hours long, which he didn't like. So DS1 took both enrichment and writing class from Tien Hsia till P6.

                      Hi,

My eldest gal has been attending Berries since N1 till N2 at Tampines and the teachers are really good till we moved her to Mountbatten for K1. In k1, she has changed a few teachers till I do not even know who is her current teacher!!

Now she is in K2, I hv decided to let her try TH. She went to the trial class and she like it and she told me TH is better. She complained that the kids in berries are naughty and noisy!!!

Berries is good for pre schooler and I can see the kids enjoy themselves. As for Th I can't comment much since this is her coming 3 lessons 😉 btw the teachers in berries do not update in ur kids progress ... They only give u their progress form end on the term.

TH also gives a progress report at the end of each term. I think TH is suitable for a structured prog of enrichment but I have no experience with Berries. The TH classes are supplemented with 1-1 tuition as well (esp. when child is older as oral becomes more important)
