Attended the Yr 1 Parent Tea session this evening. It’s really great that SOTA achieved 100% passes. On top of that, more than 60% obtained 35 points or more. Fantastic results considering that SOTA’s IB is not pure academic.

students scored 38.4 points on average, higher than the Singapore average of 36.50 and global average of 30.01, the school announced on Monday.

A total of 80 Sota students took the exam in November. Three achieved the perfect score of 45 points.
I read that the pioneer batch has 139 students, wondering why only 80 took the exams?

Over the years, some came and gone. Only 80 left, that's why. I never know of this figure 139 before? I thought it was 66 during admission time.

Opps, I read the link again that the pioneer batch of 139 consists of Sec 1 & Sec 2s. Thanks for the note. Congrats to SOTA :rahrah:

This news is in yr 2008.

So it is 139 for Yr 1 and 100 for Yr 2.

This dance student is also a high scorer and was talent scouted. She is now in the US with a scholarship, I think.

SOTA does not talent scout. 100% students chose to enter. One of the full scorers I heard had less than 220 for PSLE. Anything is possible with a rigorous curriculum. Know a teacher there so trust my source.

Hi,I'm in sec 3 now and I wish to audition in visual arts for year 5 next year.I actually wanted to audition this for year 3 but there were no vacancies available. Are the chances of me successfully transferring into sota lower and harder since I'm auditioning for year 5?Also,are there cases of students successfully transferring into year 5?Thanks:)

You have better chances of getting transferred in yr 3 instead of yr5. To date, none transferred in yr5 to my knowledge.

hi all, this is actually not true. 2 people actually joined the y5'12 cohort at year 5, and i believe one joined y5 this year.

You probably misunderstood me with my bad writing. I meant she was talent scouted by the uni in the US and not SOTA.

Which is not true? None transferred or it is not difficult to transfer at yr5? Looks like my source is outdated now. Time for me to exit this thread and let others who's sources can be trusted fill us in.

In the Year 1 art material list, there is this bamboo nib. What exactly is it and how does it look like? My hubby bought from the Straits Art at Bras Basah and it’s like a long stick/pen with a hole at the end. Is this correct? Somehow, I feel that he bought the wrong stuff.
