Want to ask if anyone has tips on how to learn mo xie ๐Ÿ™‚ i know we r lucky to only start in p3 ๐Ÿ˜› but learning chinese is quite torturous for my boy.. Any tips? Thank u in advance!!
The root cause why kids take a long time to memorize moxie is that there're too many unfamilar words in the sentences to begin with. The near term solution is to break down each lengthy sentence into smaller chunks, and take it from there.

The long term strategy is really to get them to read more Chinese books (you can look at Tamarind's blog for her many useful tips on cultivating the love for CL here http://tamarindvillage.blogspot.sg/).

Once the no. of unfamilar words decreases, the time to prepare for moxie will reduce corresspondingly.

I've kept quite a few Chinese books at home. If you like, I'll get ds to select some and pass to yours.

So not signing up your son for Boys Brigade? It is a good ground to learn independence. They also have overnight camps.
I'm pleasantly surprised you remembered what I posted a few years back. ๐Ÿ˜„ My bro was from Scout and till this day, he swears the life skills he learned in Scout prepared him well for adulthood.

Unfortunately for us, BB being on a Sat morning and all, it's tough as it clashes with some other regular events we planned.

                Hi,

Does anyone know why there is no Parent Support Group in PHPPS? I reckon thereโ€™re parents who will be able to help the school with administrative chores, such as maintaining / housekeeping the school website.

2013 term 1 has started and the school homepage is still showing 2012 term 4 calendar. Many other pages are still under construction since 2 years ago. I donโ€™t think they need a technical gurus to maintain and update the site. I just feel the website is a reflecting of the school - no pride , not organize, little communication channel available.

Even posting the online form was such a mess yesterday and stressful parent, like me was told by DS that I need to login at 4pm yesterday to get his preferred CCA as he was not selected last year. DS emphasized that I have to login on time cox vacancy is on the first come first serve basis.

                Wonder wonder why โ€ฆ?

It's not easy to enrol into PH, with competition getting tougher each year (new housing being built and all there). So if you're one of those parents who goes to the extent of shifting/PV etc to secure P1 priority, I can understand why you wished things could be smoother for your dc from the start.

Just like to suggest that you don't fret over the small stuff. There's quite a few days to register for CCA and I don't think it's a case of first-come-first-serve. In the bigger scheme of things, these hiccups will smoothen and resolve over time.

PH is a good sch; my ds loved all his chers without exception. Of course no sch is perfect, and there will be the occasional issues and 'malfunctions', and even unhappiness. But if we allow ourselves to take a step back, we'll realise that even [overcoming] these hiccups is part and parcel of the life skills our dc will acquire in their fledgling school life.

Aiyah firstly, last time many pple (like E3, Jennifer) helped me, now it's my turn to return the favour mah. ๐Ÿ˜‚

Secondly, Mrsbongz's ds and mine are best-of-buddies, confidants, soul mates, of course I'm helpful to her lah.

As to why I never offered to lend those books to you? Oh I know, it's bcos my dc's CL std compared to yours is like Bukit Timah Hill trying to teach Mount Kinabula how to grow taller. :rotflmao:

                        Hi FQW,

Do I sounded like complaining ? My post anxiety on the CCA registration may hv got into me.

Fortunately we don't hv to do PV thingy to get into PHPPS. Still thankful for that.

Maybe my \"England\" is not powerful that's why you may have misinterpreted my posting?

Guess these days, there's too many administrative tasks involved to run a school.... Poor teachers get rope in to do the admin instead of the core focus to teach and nuture the children.

I am wondering why the school don't get the \"PSG\" to assist in administrative stuffs.. I was told the school does not hv PSG.

Ps : Parent Support Group refers to parents of children currently studying in the school. Many other schools have such program.
