Hi,parents,


My K2 said that all his classmates knows how to spell one to twenty except for the two out of a class of 30 K1 last year.

Is it so for your k1 or K2 ?

But also told me class teacher teaching them 3 letter words only in K1.Do the parents taught them at home or from enrichment centres?

K1 my kids’ class can spell from one to fifty. This year will move on from there.


Do you mean reading 3 letters words or spelling 3 letters words?

Ds does not have academic enrichment this yr. He loves to read, the phonics he learnt from school, sight reading he uses Peter and Jane. Now he will read whatever he can find from the bks that I bought for the kids. I don’t think he can read all the words but I’m still amazed.

3 letter word read and spell.
Your DS is indeed amazing. How I wish my 2 kids are like that.
Besides being a reluctant reader,they are very picky on books.
He enjoys reading Zac Power but I do not know where I can find more since the 2 books are pass to me by someone).
This 2007 baby does not like to learn spelling at all. I will show what you wrote to him. Likely to motivate him.

I’m having this challenge to teach my son chinese spelling. Basically, he doesn’t like mandarin, finds it difficult and don’t want to learn to write them. any suggestions? and of cos, he has extremely short attention span, which makes it worse.

DD1 school has spellings, tingxie and homework liao… started this week… though in K1 time she already have it… and usually on fridays… now is bring home on Monday then tuesday submit… so i guess they are really prepping them for P1 now…


DD1 love reading… so for her… i have no issues when it comes to tingxie and spelling… heng ah… since most time spend after dinner is for ds who is in P2 liao… haiz…

Ds' kindy is ok. I know of others more advanced heehee.

The 3 letters words were introduced when the tr feel that the kids are ready to learn to blend.

I guess it depends on the child bah. dd1 started to really read in P1 when she sees that many of her classmates are good readers :evil:

For ds, he started in K1 and the going was slow when we started in N2.

For Chi, I use 四五快读. We speak Mandarin so that helps him in the language. He likes to watch 喜羊羊, so we have a few DVDs of that show too.

DD has started writing journal, she creates and draws her own front cover, making her own journal, she feels that it is very interesting, she enjoys the writing and making process of her own journal.


DD also writes English and Chinese compositions, although she faces some difficulties and needs some assistance, but we encourage her, continue writing her own compositions.

Kitchen is DD’s another playground, she likes to help her mother does some cooking preparation work occasionally, she always asks her mother to teach her how to cook!

Will let DD try some baking and microwave cooking with supervision.

I'm new to this forum, but already a parent of 2 young children, #1 is k2 this yr, #2 is bb dragon!

Aiyoh. My preschool... no sign of spelling and tingxie yet... My friends keep asking, sure or not, K2 already you know? :rotflmao:

My son K2 also no spelling/tingxie, no homework, only art & craft to be done with parent every 2 wks.
