Since having a kid, the 6 weeks prior to cny is always a nightmare for me. On top of working full time, caring for the kid and regular household chores, still have dozens of things to do - buy cny decor, new plants, outstanding repair work, special/adhoc household chores (eg repainting or new wallpaper if needed? Wipe the lamp shades, decluttering, clear store etc). Cleaning the windows... Can die.... But wait, cannot die - who's going to do all these if I die?

I have been thru this for 6 yrs, n i dont bother to do a major clean up. Can die esp when u r working full time. I only clean windows n wash curtains. I dont bother to pack the house as my son will still mess up the place and I am seldom at home anyway.

But I make sure I have filled up my rice bucket. :xedfingers:

Oh, and another thing, I dont invite friends to my place. Reason is mainly I m too tired to clean up before and after friends invitation.

We work smart at work... so must also work smart at home.

I don't need to wash curtains as mine are roller blinds. Despite the fact that we don't have a lot of visitors, I will still clean up. I think I just house proud. I like the idea that it is always neat and tidy. It's like part of my kpi as the lady of the home, you know?

My kid has been trained from baby time to keep his toys and books, so it's much easier for me. Whatever mess he makes with his toys and books, he clear. If not, all out of place items will go to the bin. He knows that.

I have to say there will always be surprises during these periods. Eg this year is warped wall paper, last year was window issue, the year before was lampshades. But I find myself getting more efficient and effective as each year passes. Like this year, seems like I am quite ahead of schedule. :xedfingers:

Did it leak? or unable to cook on both sides? or something else?[/quote]the korean pan i bought from metro is called st james hancook.
it is indicated 'made in korea'. this pan is good for frying fish as oil doesn't splatter. if i wish to turn over, i bring it to the sink.

My DD is now my mini helper.

I'm also fussy with cleanliness especially since I have pets. And I find that I :mad: easily when my home is messy.

But due to chronic fatigue, I have no choice but to slow down. And I designate one room to store clutter. But the target is to constantly get rid of clutter. Fastest way is to pile them all up, then quickly sort under useful, rubbish (straight to bin) and useful for others. I bring the last category to work to giveaway. Either a colleague will want or someone will help me give to an orphanage (she lives close to one).

Up, as my kid grows older, i am of course older and therefore not as energetic as before. But as kid is now older, he is able to help me more than before. For one, clearing up and tidying his stuff as become part of his way of life. I don't need to nag, automatically he would clear when it's time to leave home/sleep/move on to next activity eg meal time. And he was able to help me unpack/pack his bag. I think it really helps that he is independent in carrying out his daily personal activities. Nag also need a lot of energy leh...

And the best part is he would also get his father to tidy his (father) stuff. :rotflmao:

Roomba is like dry vacuuming, Scooba is like sweeping and mopping.

Or those 3-in-1 or 4-in-1, which has sweeping, mopping and uv sterilize.

I have the Roomba and Scooba, and both are essential items in my domestic arrangements. Roomba is a vacuum cleaner. Scooba is essentially a floor washer, tho it the floor washing process includes a light vacuuming phase. My Roomba (650) can be scheduled to run daily on selected days on its own, and it returns to dock and recharge on its own. The Scooba does not have this scheduling function, and needs to be manually cleaned after each use (pour the water out, clean the filters etc), and the battery brought to the charger. Both are important for me because I have a dog at home and vacuuming is not enough.

However, if I had to choose just one robot, I would choose the Roomba - because it can come out and work while I am away, doesn't need to be cleaned after each use. It does a pretty thorough job of vacuuming which makes manual mopping a breeze afterwards.

These two robots have been doing a good job for us so far, better than manual magic-cleaning/ vacuuming/ mopping. How did I come to this conclusion? When I was using the Roomba 4 to 5 times a week, and Scooba about 3x a week, the dirty water tipped out of the Scooba was fairly clean. Two weeks ago, I didn't use either robots and cleaned the floor manually for a week, then I used Scooba. The dirty water tipped out of Scooba was very dark.

Anyway, I actually wanted to get the Mint Plus, which can do a dry wipe and a wet mop. But it was out of stock for longer than I could wait.

Anyone has tips on removing stains from fridge?


My fridge has a shiny greyish ( not stainless though). There are some food stain (oil stain maybe) which I can’t remove with the usual detergent.

Taking 2 days leave (tomorrow and tues) to do some heavy duty cleaning. Planning to clean all the 5 fans, the hall/study/bedroom windows, kitchen cabinets, scrub kitchen floor… I wonder if I will kill myself along the way if I do all these tomorrow. Alone.
