Coaching of Secondary school work
-
Parents who coach/teach their children in their primary school work, do you still do so when they go Secondary school or you leave them to study on their own or hire tutors?
-
they must learn how to study themselves because they are mature enough. my dd1 study herself, and she make it to triple science in sec3. my friend son tuition a lot ,but didnt see results.

Many students still cannot study by themselves in secondary school.
-
so how? must go tuition? have time meh? does the tuition teacher re-teach what was taught in school or coach homework?
-
I always tell my girl to be attentive in the class, and do homework seriously. They must read widely during their free time . There are so many subjects to study, tuition is not necessary. :moneyflies:
hope it helps -

Good for you and count yr blessings, munchies. -
Tuition is not necessarily a waste of time and money. Some kids benefit from the 1-1 or smaller student-teacher ratio. Teachers handling a big class of 40 can only do so much.

I agree with you that some kids need tuition. I noticed some parents are too kan cheong when see the results drop,at least they have to give some time to the children . They need to learn to be independent in secondary. -
Those who get tutors for their sec sch kids, do you get tutors by word of mouth or from tuition agency? What are the subjects in sec do they need tuition usually, though I understand that it all depends on individual kid.

Usually in English and Maths esp A Maths in sec3.
Eng forms part of the L1R5 computation unless yr child is good in HCL.
A strong foundation in A Maths is a MUST as H2 Maths in JC, builds on that.
