My DS brought back a piece of paper entitled : 中一语特课程(算一科目的分数)。 Anyone here knows what is this all about. My DS says is LEP (chinese), but I thought LEP is part of CSE which starts in year 3. According to him, if you do well in it, it will help in your chinese language marks and vice versa. I would like to know how long do they have to stay on this course (i.e. Year 1 only or throughout the 4 years or ....)? What if they can't cope, can they drop-out?

If you have any details about this, appreciate if you can share it here.

      Thank you.

Anyone knows more about the 课程 by now (I didn't get the paper)? Is it for high ability students in CL or the weak ones? If it is to help students learn more CL and improve CL marks, then the weak ones like my DS (A in CL) should attend. My same concern as JustKP, \"What if they can't cope, can they drop-out?\"
      Thank you!

the syllabus is on the school website.

I went to the HCI canteen today n must say I was dismayed to see so few stalls in such a shabby state! It's such a far cry from ACSI's air conditioned one which is bright n huge:-(

why need to air con the school canteen huh?

Hi all, Anyone knows when the CCA selections commence?

I'm just as clueless. Students in other schools seem to have done CCA selection already.

Yes majority get A in PSLE chinese. My DS also in Pro-Ed but don't have this additional subject. Do they teach something different or focus on a particular aspect such as composition?

Hi My DS is also in PRo-Ed, but he decided not to take up. Otherwise, almost everyday can only reach home by 6pm.

Oh I just checked with DS and he said he opt out because it clashes with other lessons. Now already stay back for 2 days and RS starting next week. When CCA begins, think probably stay back every day...

      Thanks traineeks,

If the IP started in 2004, how can they receive their A level results in 2008 ?

They are referring to 4 year IP program ?

They started taking in students who were in S3 for their first batch if I recalled correctly. Which means they took the 'through-train' program but did not start from S1.

ya, same for NUSH which started with Year 3 intake.

Do all boys do HCL in HCI? Maybe I should ask the school if he's doing HCL or normal Chinese?? Do they even have normal Chinese classes??

Understand that all S1 students take HCL.
Also heard from a staff that those falling behind will be given remedial help.
Shouldn't worry yourself too much at this early stage.[/quote]

      I agree.

does anyone know whether the students can follow parents to next friday's symposium?

Yes my DS told us that the students can follow the parents. I was told we are meeting the FT.

ya my DS told me that too. But it seems it's just an informal gathering before the talk so I wonder how the teacher can manage all the parents at the same time. I can imagine all the parents are excited and many parents would have questions to ask. Any ex-Sec 1 parent around to share on last year's symposium?
