Will it be too early to prepare the child now for next year PSLE. Might be bit kiasu but as a full time working mum of three kids all at primary level two, four and five do not have much time to coach them.

What do you mean by preparing? Start working on past PSLE papers?

Another school of thought :evil: - aren't we already preparing the kids? since p1 :yikes: That's why PSLE is a 6 years programme, from p1 to p6 to prepare for this big event

I hope they let parents tag along as volunteer.then I let my husband go along with them.my son is very keen to go.I am just worried, as usual.

Haha. Last year during the overseas briefing, parents were specifically clearly warned not to 'drop' by unannounced in the hotel room. DH and I looked at each other guiltily because we had talked about shadowing them by taking the next flight out.

It makes the other kids homesick. Also, one of the learning objectives is independence.

The school does not take paying volunteer parents. They said from experience, these parents ended up taking care of their own children. It takes away the depth of experience in their kids.

My husband had volunteered on class outing before and helped out when one of the student was unwell and the teachers were short handed. We hope that the school will give this option if they are looking for additional help.

In dd’s school, parent volunteers are not allowed for oversea immersion trips although they are welcome to help out for the class outings.

In my kid’s school, only P1 and P2 Malaysia trip selected parents volunteer. Upper primary overseas trip china, japan, vietnam, perth, india, indonesia, parents are not allowed.


It defeats the purpose of independency, if parents tag along.

I can only remember chit chatting with the morning session school mates, who I seldom met or never met before and sleeping on the school tables arranged together. And it was only one night at our school premise.

Hmm....I do not understand why but my ds sch has the camping at P4. They camped out of sch and ds told me some of the children cried because of homesick. It was their first time staying out alone without their papa and mama and their lovely pillows..

DS1 had his 3D2N adventure camp in P4 last year. It’s conducted by an offsite camping vendor and he had fun. But when he came back, he was too tired to go to school the next day… so he slept the entire day…
