Yeah, things are building up in DS school, slowly but surely. Has to decide his 6 CCA choices by this week and still has difficulties filling it up.

Had Home Econ class as well and taught to make egg mayo sandwiches. But when I asked him whether he ate what he made, he said dare not eat.........hmmmmmm! :slapshead:
听写/默写 today...there are also some xxxx for 默写 which are unknown. he really has to build up his vocab.

6 cca choices not easy to decide...we had problems with 3...had to make sure he likes all the choices and that these ccas do not take up more than 2 days (max) after school.

next week he mentioned baking some cake...i asked him if he ate the dessert made yest...he doesn't like honeydew and it contained coconut. he was apprehensive eating it bcos his stomach is allergic to coconut...but overall i think it is a new experience. most importantly, he is looking forward to school.

He had 听写/默写 as well and got 16/20. DS whole class is taking Higher Chinese and he said passing mark is 17/20, and the whole class failed and will need to re-take.....Woah!! set very high standard 😓

DS also did some English vocab over the weekend. Some words very \"chimp\" and even I need some effort to tackle them before I could help DS.

When will this marathon end? I thought after Primary level, kids will be more relaxed. Looks like may not be true.

Until now, I hv not bought my DS a handphone but I know he longs for one.

His sch allow students to bring hp but not use them during lessons. He says tilll today, he still haven’t seen a public phone in sch so one time he used his friend’s hp to call me during recess.

Should I get him one? A prepaid card or plan?

Do your children bring hp to school?

I bought handphone for my DS since P4 (now in Sec 1) and my DD last year (now in P4). The reason is for them to get in touch with us, if necessary, when they need tio stay back in school and go home by public transport themselves.

But, still must monitor their usage. I told them they cannot download games into their handphone. But sometimes I relent a little during school holidays. But after the school holidays, they must uninstall all the games (if not, they could get out of hand).

MY DC were also given handphones just in case there are any emergencies. But usage of handphones in their schools are very strict. No usage during curriculum time and they can only use after school finishes.

I guess it is OK to let them have handphones, but within certain guidelines, IMHO.

As to whether to subscribe to a plan or pre-paid card, I chose pre-paid card so that I can monitor their usage. Also, I have called Singtel to disable their 3G connectivity just in case they log into the internet, either accidentally (which can cost ALOT!) or on purpose.

Very true indeed that one could hardly find a public telephone in school. My DS sometimes \"what apps\" me to inform of last minute stay back in school while queuing for food during recess. Often, they have instant messaging within their class of what to do or bring on that day so I believe a HP does help in their work and time management.

I passed a mobile phone to my son since he was in P5...he had suppl lessons and I needed to contact him...the hp is in silent mode. He is using iphone 3GS but he is not allowed to download games. I have downloaded some useful apps...like dictionary and Asiaone, CNA for him to read. He doesn't have data roam. His line has a plan as prepaid cards are expensive and I have to monitor the value doesn't expire nor exceed. Free incoming calls.
500 sms...if he exceeds 100 min, then I will confiscate the phone.

Your sch is kind. Mine only given 4 choices to input and he has to pick a choice from each catergory: uniform grp, club & society and aesthetics....so even though he don't like uniform grp, he is still required to make a selection on it.

Really wish my boy could choose club or society as his CCA. But according to the school, he has to choose 1 main CCA, which is UG, sport or performing art. Clubs or societies are optional CCA. My boy is not selected for any sport or performing art. His interests is in robotics, debate & chess. The poor boy has to join something that he does not like - UG. 😢
