I see CIP points in the Report Book but not CCA points. IN either case, there is no use for points in primary school.Does CHS assign points for CCA?
How does that work?
TIA -
Careermum:
Careermum, thx for the clear explanationOnly Sec Sch need to have compulsory CCA coz have points, and very impt bc the 1 or 2 points can be used for deduction of the L1R5 score, which can make a difference betw going to a top JC or just an above average JC.
Pri sch, no official CCA points. Join only for self development, and if good, you can use the CCA for DSA admission to a Sec sch of your choice, depending on whether the CCA that you join is the niche CCA of the Sec sch that you are eyeing for.
So you have to choose the CCA based on what your aim is. Usually 3 scenarios:
1) KS parents eyeing a top Sec sch, then before joining cca, better go to that sec sch's website to find out what their niche cca is. Also, go to that sec sch's website to find out for previous year's DSA, what are the CCA that have a chance to be shortlisted & interviewed by them. Then join those cca regardless of whether your child has interest. During the next few years, make sure your child do well in those cca, get prizes (need to be either interschool or national level), then in mid year of P6, use these stellar results to apply for DSA to the Sec sch of your choice.
2) Just join the CCA that your child is interested in, regardless of whether you will get any good returns from it. To you, your child's happiness is the most impt thing.
3) Your child likes the CCA very much & can perform very well, and derived satisfaction from it, and it can be used a DSA in P6. Then lucky you

Hi everyone
Can I find out what will happen if the kid misses spelling / tingxie etc due to illness? Will the teacher do a retest?
BTW, are these spellings and tingxies counted in the CA / SA? -

There are different scenarios:Hi everyone
Can I find out what will happen if the kid misses spelling / tingxie etc due to illness? Will the teacher do a retest?
BTW, are these spellings and tingxies counted in the CA / SA?
1) For P1 which has no Exams, tingxie & spelling are usually counted towards the CA/SA marks. Some teachers will do make up, some won't; so you may have to ask the relevant teachers of your son's class.
Also, when the marks are counted, the teachers usually don't use all the marks. Sometimes they use the best 5 out of the 7 or 8 times; Sometimes they use the 2nd to 6th (so if do well for 1st and 7th spelling, also no use); so it depends on which term of the year, or which spelling is counted, or which class the teacher teaches.
2) For P2, there is exams at 4th term. So usually 1st to 3rd terms' spelling are counted. Then 4th term not counted.
3) For P3 to P5, as there are SA1 (2nd term) & SA2 (4th term), the 1st & 3rd
term's spelling are counted towards CA1 & CA2.
But it varies. So better check with the teachers. -
Thanks careermum. DS is in P3. Will check with teachers again.

You are welcome cherrygal.
For P3, usually 1st & 3rd term's spelling/tingxie are counted. But usually its the 2nd to 6th. Since sch just reopened, the one that your son missed, which is most likely the 1st spelling/tingxie, may not be counted.
Yes, check with teacher better, coz it varies

Can anyone here recommend a Maths tutor for P6?
-
Any P5 or P6 parents here?
May I ask if P5 or P6 are streamed this year? As in the classes are ranked. -
My boy in P6 this year. No streaming from P5 to P6.
