Hi Phankao, so your boy is in Sec 2. My boy is in Sec 1 & he has not been pre selected for any sport or performing art. Have to take 1 main CCA. The problem is that he does not likes UG. His interests is in clubs & societies.


Which CCA does your son join? Is it true that NCC & NPCC focus on foot drill? Want him to join scout but crashes with the Taekwondo class he has outside. If join both UG & club, might take up too much of his time. Really headache.

I think they get their CCA in 3rd or 4th week, is it? I'm not familiar actually bc my boy already had his CCA when he first joined CHS bc under DSA - he's in Chinese Orchestra. As such, I'm not that familiar with the other CCAs either. My boy had to do all the Sports/UG/Performing-Arts CCA trials like everybody else in the 1st 2 Orientation weeks nevertheless. He hated all the UG & the Sports. haha. The only one he likes is Soccer, but there's no Soccer CCA in CHS. ;D

I think its submission yesterday and result out on Friday. CCA starts next week.

NPCC do a lot of drills. For NCC, they have both Air and Land. Do drills, and shooting and other army-like stuffs.....Air have aero-modelling and precision drills.

My ds and his friends all chose Scouts and a club....2 CCAs each....

Hi mummy sk, it could be quite a pain for someone who's not interested in UG to be in one, coz there's lots of 'tekan-ing' and 'pumping' and so forth. (I know because I've been through that before.) Despite that, joining NCC Air had been the one main motivating factor for my boy to go to school - guess there's this 'soldier boy' in him, which makes good preparation for 'the inevitable'.


No, they do not only focus on foot drills. He has gone for kayaking, flight simulation, free style drills, and there was also a session after final exams last year he had a chance to go up a real C130. But foot drills and free style drills trained him up on the enthusiasm of practising for excellence, which I hadn't seen in him in much things else, other than gaming. In the past year he's been in the CCA, he's grown much taller, more muscular, higher endurance (physically and mentally) and disciplined. I didn't think much of what he could do in the physical department previously, but he's now somehow changed.

Talent can only get one that far, which parents can capitalise on when they're young. Interest would be the deciding factor for how far they would go.

Thank you for sharing. It is better to choose a CCA that you enjoy or have interest, since you have to stick to it for 4 years. But it is not easy to make a choice, if you are not good in sport or music.

I heard that they have a huge IP population this year because there will be 2 girls schools joining the IP together with CHS so they want to balance out.


And the IP COP this year being low is quite saddening for me If I was born a year later and worked a tiny bit harder then maybe I don’t have to take O levels.
