Your kids not bad already. My first boy just enrolled into K1 still does not respond to his chinese name. Aiyo.....headache :faint:
MintyMin:
TH enrichment are all based on HCL, whereas for Berries it is not.. that is as far as i noe.. both my ds (P2) and dd1 (K2) are in TH CCK..
Ds has difficulty as I juz started him on chinese enrichment end last yr (due to waitlist at both Berries n TH) and his chinese wasn't tat gd.. he can take a week to learn the tingxie given by TH and still can't really remember it.. so was wondering if i shld haf enrolled him in Berries instead..
As for DD1, she joined early last yr, she enjoyed every session of TH, and can tell from the worksheets that TH really prepare them well for P1.. there's hypy, bu shou, bi hua..
gremlin_loh, did you choose a very difficult chinese name for him?
Just kidding.. U may wish to speak more in mandarin with him at home? Ur boy just started sch? Mayb also the reason as my kids all goes CC where they started having lessons since N1.
My ds already P2, so he can't slack.. so i would say.. his standard of chinese is definitely a POOR.. but having said tat.. I juz saw LIGHT at the tunnel yesterday when he scored almost full marks for his tingxie..
:rahrah: Hopefully for his TH tingxie today.. he can have at least 50% right..

Haha, selected an easy chinese name for him. My chinese is very weak also, had to make sure the name easy for both him and me! My wife is a homemaker so did not enroll him in CC, only PCF. The pre-school education not too great if you ask me.

By default, the Berries kids r in HC. Only in upper Primary (cant rem wht it is P3 or P4) you may opt for Std chinese if u cant catch up and there r not many std chinese classes. In P5, there is a Higher Ability (or Achiever or something) class whr the selected kids r asked to sit a test (compo and compreh) to see wht qualify for this class. According to my DS1, the test is v difficult, and as expected, he din qualify.TH enrichment are all based on HCL, whereas for Berries it is not.. that is as far as i noe.. both my ds (P2) and dd1 (K2) are in TH CCK..

I put my 3 kids at this newly opened Chinese Enrichment Centre - Huawen Academy εζε¦θ. I signed them up for creative writing. My kids like it there. The teachers are very approachable and friendly. They use interactive and innovative Taiwanese pedagogy and itβs an initiative by Principals Academy. The course are from K1 to Secondary school. I highly recommend this centre.

for P1 at Tien Hsia,
do they teach pupils to look at a picture, then describe it in a 1 line sentence ? -
titank:
some Tao Nan parents sent their children there (Yuquan, Marine Parade branch), and the feedback was good !
Anyone let their kid take the following course from Yuquan Lang Sch?
δΈεεη»γεΏ«ιθ―εθ―Ύη¨
ζθ―θ―ε Cool
A parent i spoke to told me that her son no problem with Chinese in primary school, he attended both since K2. Now her son big, Sec 3 in a SAP Sec school. She said a number of parents from Tao Nan whose kids in the Bicep program also sent them there. They built the child's foundation well from young.
during P1 orientation in Nanyang primary SAP school, Yuquan will set up a booth there, inviting P1 parents to join these 2 program. Yuquan teachers can then go down to Nanyang school premises and teach Nanyang students there, help them build up a strong foundation from P1.

I found out from my child's K2 Chinese teacher at Tien Hsia saying that Tien Hsia is incorporating Hanyu Pinyin into their classes on top of learning new Chinese Vocabulary words. There will be more focus on speaking and reading as they are following the MOE Chinese syllabus. She shared that there will be Spelling twice a term. The Chinese K2 enrichment has been extended from 1h 30min to 1 h 45 min. She shared that the K2 worksheets for 2013 will be different from 2012. She also advised that the child not be late for class as there will be lots for her to teach. Glad to know that Tien Hsia has done some adjustment to their K2 enrichment curriculum to prepare children for Pri 1 next year.
sembgal,
may i ask which TH branch are you refering to ?
Are they going to change worksheets for 2013 K2, for all TH branches, or only your branch ?
