I believe we will fall into the Phase 2B, what's my odds of my boy going to Maris Stella? Do you know?

It depends on where you live. If you live >2km of Maris Stella (MS), you may need to ballot at Phase 2B. But the odds are very good. It is something like 80 seats to 87 applicants. However, some more kiasu parents prefer to uproot and move within 1km of the school to get a guaranteed seat at MS.thanks for the info Cherrygal. At Cat High, even if you are within 1km, you only get a 1:2 possibility (50% chance or less), which means you may get nothing even after uprooting.
MS is popular among parents who are too afraid to ballot at Cat High. MS is still a considerably good Catholic school and offers SAP (Higher Chinese). -
Thank you so much for the info Cherrygal. I guess the next best thing for me is Maris Stella because I definitely live >2km

Hi, I’m planning to enrol my boy into Holy Innocents Primary School next year (he’s born in 2008). I’ve seen the stats for take-up rate and balloting till 2010. Where can I get 2011 and 2012 figures from? Planning to register under Phase 2B. My whole family is Catholic and we plan to use my MIL’s address in Kovan (within 1-2km). What are our chances of getting in? Btw, if I use my MIL’s address, does that mean I can’t register him for after school care?

In 2012, according to phtthp's post, HIPS needed balloting for >2km at Phase 2B. You stand a good chance. You need a statutory declaration with MOE to use your MIL address. I don't think you should be using an after-school care if you are doing the statutory declaration. Your MIL cannot even work and the wife cannot quit her job for good.
A better way may be to move physically to MIL's house, change your address and live there. Alternatively, shift house to avoid all this trouble. Your child could lose the seat if you do not adhere to the requirements.

Dear Parents,
I’m looking for SHHK members to help second my application for SHHK membership. Thanks in advance. -
Hi, if I am a hokkien member, so that will be phrase 2B? Or need to obtain the recommendation letter then can be in phrase 2B? Rather confused here, appreciate some advice. Thanks.

Nearer to the registration period, you will need to submit an application to SHHK to indicate which of the clan affiliated schools you intend to enroll your child in.
SHHK will consolidate all applications and issue recommendations to deserving
members, based on some criteria unknown to outsiders (seniority? contribution?).
If you are one of the lucky ones, then you can proceed to register in phase 2B. -

hi, if you are a member of the SHHK, you will need to submit an application form to the clan for the recommendation letter. This typically takes place way before the start of registration (pls call them/check out their website for further details so as not to miss the deadline). In the form, you will have to put in the school you wish to apply to. They will assess internally based on their 'secret' set of criteria.
Approval will only happen AFTER Phase 2A2 is over. If approved, you will be informed of your success (some parents prefer to call up the clan). You will basically have a couple of days to sweat if your application is approved - calling any earlier will not work.
Some parents may receive the letter via mail; others will just get a phone call to go down to the desired school on day of 2B registration (the school will have a list of eligible members).
As usual, don't have to rush down and join the queue on the first day. there is no first come first serve; if you have the letter, you have it. Just go when you are free (I preferred to go on latter days to escape the crowd).
And fyi, should anything happen in the interim and you decide at the last minute NOT to apply to the clan school after all. No matter, you don't have to do anything (eg inform the school/clan). As long as you don't register in that school, you are not bound to have your child in there. Just go to your desired school and register.
Hope that clarifies matters
