[quote] Have you asked yourself what you plan to study in JC? As pointed out by someone, you can go to Arts stream without AMaths. Some JCs also allow you to go Sci stream and takes up H2 Maths without AMaths (not sure whether ACJC allows it), but doing H2 Maths without AMaths will be tough, considering you are poor in your EMaths! I think listing out the \"some\" would be helpful for the TS to get a better view of his options

HHaa.. i am lazy to check thru every JCs website for their subject combination. Below are some I managed to find. The best is for you to check with the JC directly.

For JJC, some Science classes allows you to do H2 Maths with A1 or A2 in EMaths (don't need AMaths). But some science classes need a pass in Both Maths.

For AJC, their criteria is more stringent. To do H2 Mathematics, students must have offered Additional Mathematics and preferably have obtained C6 or better in Additional Mathematics at the GCE ‘O’ Level Examination.

For VJC, 'O' level Mathematics for H1 Mathematics; 'O' level Additional Mathematics for H2 Mathematics

        Cheers.

            Hi, in serious dilemma:

            To do geo or history
            To do phy or bio

dear seniors, which one easier to score for ‘O’ level ? I heard that history very very hard to study.

            headache.

Geog if you memorize easy to score. This year physics paper was tougher… Bio also memorize easy to score. But I’m probably biased, cos I got A1 for bio but B3 for physics haha.

Thk you, senior! if not the kind who can memorise, if so, shld take geog or history? Which is tougher to do, in terms of abt of details to study n remember?

Ya, I heard tt physics is more difficult to score than bio but I guess for bio, must hv flair for it. Not everyone can stomach tonnes of those things to cram into the small tiny cage up in the head!

Do geog cos they give a greater percentage of distinctions than history

Hi! Just to add quickly: hist/phy are largely skill-based subjects, conversely, geog/bio are content-based subjects. Meaning, for the former, if you are able to master the skills required quickly (eg for hist, SBQ qns etc), you will be able to score. However, its tougher to learn skills quickly, and if you cant get it, you will struggle.

For content based subjs, its really down to pure hard work - cramming. These are the \"safer\" options. Cos worse to the very worse, just sit your ass down, and work damn hard to memorise everything. That way, your As are almost definitely secured.

Either way, stress is there. Perhaps you should pick the ones you have more interest in? Interest in particular subjects is always helpful 🙂

                    All the best!

My DS is in Sec 2 and is going to choose subject combination. He is wondering whether to choose Pure Physics and chem or Pure Chem and Bio.

He will choose Pure Geog and Elextive SS+History for humanties subjects.
