      Hi, can someone help to solve

      The number of shells in Box A was 12 more than that in Box B. When 96 shells were transferred from Box A to Box B, the number of shells in Box B became 3 times that of Box A. Find the total number of shells in Box A at first.

      Thank you
      My ds answer...
      96-12=84
      84*2=168
      168+12=180
      180/2=90
      90+96=186.
      186 shells.

            Pls help :

            The no of students in class 5D was thrice as many as that of class 5C. After 15 students are transferred from D class to C class, the students in 5C was twice that of class 5D. How many students were there in 5C after the transfer ?
            Thanks

              Total number of students remain the same.

              Ratio method:
              At first, 5D:5C -> 3:1
              In the end, 5D:5C --> 1:2
              Total number of students remain the same, so equalize total ratio parts.

              At first, 5D:5C -> 9u:3u
              In the end, 5D:5C --> 4u:8u
              Students transferred --> 5u -- 15, 1u --> 3

              Students in 5C after transfer --> 24

              fraction method:
              At first, number of students in 5D as a fraction of total number = 3/4 total
              In the end, number of students in 5D as a fraction of total number = 1/3 total
              number of students transferred out = 3/4 total - 1/3 total = 5/12 total

              5/12 total --> 15
              total --> 36

              Number of students in 5C after transfer --> 2/3 x 36 = 24

              cheers.

                  Hi All

                  Pls help TIA!

                  1) Madeline had 49 paper clips and jacob had 644 paper clips.
                  After their mother gave them each an equal number of paper clips, Madeline had 1/8 as many paper clips as Jacob.
                  How many paper clips did their mother give each of them?

                  2) Benny read 1/3 of a storybook on Mon and 5/6 of the remainder on Tues.
                  He completed reading the rest of the 48 pages on Wed.
                  How many pages were there in the book?

                  Thanks

                    For question 1,

                    7 U ---- 595
                    U -------85

                    M is 85-49, mum gives 36

                    For question 2,

                    1/3 on MOnday, 5/9 on Wed. Remaining is 1 - 1/3 - 5/9, balance is 1/9 which equals to 48
                    U ----- 48
                    Total pages is 48 * 9 = 432 pages altogether

                        Hi,

                        Have a question on average that I need help with. Thanks !

                        Bin has $30 more than Ron.
                        Wei has 4/3 of the average of what Ron and Bin have.
                        The average amount that Bin and Wei have is 1.5 of Ron's money.
                        How much money does Wei have?

                        Thanks !
                        ๐Ÿ™‚
                        Hi

                        You may work using MD or units.

                        Ron ----- 6 units

                        Bin ----- 6 units + 30

                        Average of Ron and Bin ----- 6 units + 15

                        Wei has 4/3 of the average of what Ron and Bin have.

                        Hence, Wei ----- 8 units + 20

                        Total amount of Bin and Wei ----- 14 units + 50 (6 units + 30 + 8 units + 20)

                        Average of Bin and Wei ----- 7 units + 25

                        1.5 of Ronโ€™s money ------ 9 units (1.5*6)

                        7 units + 25 ----- 9 units

                        1 unit ----- 12.5

                        Wei ----- 8*12.5 + 20 ----- 120

                        Best wishes
