      Hi spe,

Yes I went to visit. I went to the school last week Friday. I called ahead to set up a time to go there. You can try to do the same.

Those of you who have kids who are/were attending nursery and kindergarten here, how is the feedback system like? Do the teachers write reports on your child’s progress or do you have to call in and ask? My child is in N2 and he doesn’t normally tell me how his day went. Either he doesn’t remember or he didn’t achieve much. I have called the school and only 50% of the time does his form teacher call me back. I wonder if no feedback is the norm in his school. Other schools he has been to volunteer the info right after the lesson. Thanks.

            Jav:
I have read the 4 pages on BRMCK, and visited the school. However, I would like to also hear from any current parents with kids attending the school. I am torn whether to switch my kid from SJCK to BRMCK due to conveniency & proximity. From my visit, I kind of gather that BRMCK is pretty academic as compared to SJCK, somehow, the kids look less cheerful as compared to SJCK. Can any helpful parents provide some insights & their own experience of the school please, like the teachers, etc.

Interested to know why you said so. My son seems very unhappy there but he doesn't tell me why. Are teachers overly strict? A friend schooled 2 of her kids there and mentioned something about their punishment and discipline system and when she transferred her kids out to another school they were much happier. Every morning I struggle with coaxing my son to wear his uniform. Understand some kids don't look fwd to attending school but surely not this early in preschool?

Yes, that's what I found strange, too.
There is no \"communication book\" or \"daily/weekly report\" system. When I asked the teacher about this issue, she suggested me to call the admin office and she will call me back if there is anything I wish to discuss.
I told her I will drop a note in DS's school bag if I have any message for her. She said that's fine.
I send/fetch DS to/from school everyday so I get to see the teachers. DS is only in N1 so he doesn't really tell me much about his day in school, either.

Today I saw a damn selfish parent when I fetched my child home from BRMCK this afternoon. What happened is that, she helped her son to put on a mask before he gets into the car. So it means the child did not put mask when he was in class but only after school as afraid he will pass to her.

That parent don’t give a damn to other kids in the class but only herself. She should have asked her kid to stay home or put mask during lessons and not after end of class. Pissed…

Maybe she is sick and afraid she will pass on to the child?

I don’t know about others but I find mothers are hardly afraid that the child would pass the germs to them, unless she is pregnant or has very weak/sensitive body.

Hello mums who already had your children studying in BRMCK,

How is it so far for your kid who is studying there? Good and worth the queuing for registration? Can share?

Well, as a Christian kindy, I do like seeing my son coming home and singing hymns and Christian songs he’s learnt in nursery. He also recites Bible verses - sometimes in Mandarin!

Since the middle of last year, the school allocates 70% of the curriculum time to Mandarin (for N1 & N2), which is good for an English-speaking home like ours. I was very surprised when he showed me the Chinese strokes that they’d learnt.

Within the first week of N1 the teacher rang me to say I didn’t have to put my boy in pull-up pants anymore as he was ready to be toilet trained. I like their proactive approach!

On the downside, his N1 class size was very very large. About 20 students, but with 3 teachers. Still very much within the teacher-student ratio set by MSF but the largest among all the kindys I’d enquired at.

Wow I feel encouraged seeing this post. My gal is currently studying in N1. School officially starts on the 13th. I’m not sure how things will turn out. But I hoping that I can see progress as she’s quite a shy gal when outside of house. Plus her Chinese is rather weak as we speak mostly English at home as well. Any other N1 2014 parents here? Am thinking if we got enough N1 2014 parents, we can start a fb group and chat from there as its easier. 
