I think must be at least 95% or 96% to be in M1, because my DS had 93%, still M2.

That's very high. Which level is your child in? Must be a strong cohort.

Actually it depends on the performance of the cohort. They just take the top 40 for M1. So if the top 40 means 91%, it will be 91%. If it is a draw, they will look at whole year result. My son said from P4 to P5 last year, the M1 cut-off point was only 89%.

This year P5 to P6, the math banding was based on the SA2 result according to the math HOD. πŸ˜„[/quote]Do you know if the M1 class get extra tranining such as math olympiad?

I remembered last year Math TTLT provided 10 lessons of tranining for ACS mathlympics and a few lessons of tranining for all the students who have registered for the NUS NMOPS.

          Thanks Mrs Bongz and FQW!

Looking at the moxie list, it does seem like the MT standard is pretty high.....having a hard time trying to make him learn now...understand other classes have to learn the whole 6....
In that case, I must go tell my son that; he's lucky need to do only 3. πŸ˜„

            Thanks FQW & JRLam.
Yes, indicated in student handbook as
            P2: 30%(HA in T2)+30%(HA in T3)+40%(SA2)

So term 1 can relax abit.. πŸ•Ί
            Then come term 2 πŸ˜“
The HA comes as a stream of seemingly nvr ending mini-tests. Unless you're a SAHM and super-disciplined, where got time to go monitor so many things.

Last yr, some bad pple here πŸ˜† at me bcos I had to cajole - arm-twist more like it - ds to start preparing for SA2. So this year err ... can I be equally bad and πŸ˜† at you? Hahaha!

The way I look at the banding - it’s helping the children to learn according to their ability. Otherwise, it may kill their interest in the subject altogether.

If not for this forum, I would not have any idea of the banding.

Just asked my son and he told me that he would walk over to next class for his Math class (he’s M3). He’s not too bothered by the banding and I can see that he still likes the subject (which is great)!

Most impt is the teaching style matches the learning style.

Anyone has any clue as to the full title of the Malay textbook used for P3 MCCA? My boy keeps saying it’s the "Bahasa Melayu "book. Thanks.
