Anyway, your son will be under Phase 1 of a highly coveted school. What else can you ask for?
:siam:phtthp:
Exactly as phtthp said...affiliation vs no affiliation.suppose BigD has a chance ...
to choose between Nanyang and ACS Barker primary.
which school will BigD then pick ?
Nanyang no affliation to Hwa Chong Sec for boys, whereas ACS Barker has.
But guess I don't have a chance to worry about that now. :gloomy: -
SAHM_TAN:
Hi SAHM_TAN,skysky2018,
Sorry to have given you false hope. :imsorry:
No problem. Thanks anyway:)
I was just about to share with you that I have checked with ACS (Primary), and they replied me this morning (22 January 2013) that unfortuantely we will not be able to qualify under phase 2A.
I understand from ACS (Primary) that in order to qualify as \"the child whose parent is a former student from the primary school of choice\", the father must be an old boy from ACS Primary (Singapore). It appears whether the years of studies cross the \"full school years\" does not make any difference.
Also, I understand that ACS (Primary) does not provide PV.
I am not from a methodist church. My husband is not a Christian.
Based on the above, it appears that, in order to increase the chances of our boy's admission into ACSP, the only effort we can consider is to move to a place located within 1km of ACSP. However, I understand, even we do that, we have no guratee place if balloting is required (which is most likely to be the case under phase 2C for ACSP).
One more question if you don't mind, how can I find out which condos are located within 1km of ACSP? through onemap?
Many thanks! -

wow, you reply really fast. Thanks again! I will go to check the website.
Sigh, now got to think about buying a new property. The price of a condo located within 1km of ACSP should be quite high.... -
phtthp:
Hi phtthp,
ACS (Barker) primary does not have parent volunteer service.skysky2018:
It appears that we can only explore (a) being a volunteer, and (b) stay within 1km , to increase the chances of admission. Is that correct?
Phase 2B -
this is for the parents who are members of the Methodist church.
You need a letter from the pastor.
Thanks for the information.
FYI, I have checked with ACS Primary, and they replied this morning that our son will not be qualify as \"a child whose parent is a former student of the primary school of choice\" by the fact that my husband studied at ACS (Secondary) School (located at Barker Road) during 1986 to 1990.
About the church membership referred in 2B, I myself am not from a Methodist Church, and my husband is not a Christian.
So now, the only effort we may consider is to move to a place located within 1km of ACS (Primary) in order to increase the chances of admission. However, I do understand, even we take the trouble to change house, there is no gurantee of success if balloting is required (which is most likely to be the case under phase 2C).
After these few days's research, now I understand, the primary school education system in Singapore is quite unique. In order to be admitted into a popular school, not easy. -

Those studying in ACS (Barker) between 1994 and 1998....rejoice!!
But the email said it was a full school only between 1994 and 1998.
I'm checking with them further whether those studying in ACS(Barker)
within that period can enjoy phase 2A registration.
[quote]Yes, the old boys who studied at ACS(Br) during the period: 1994 to 1998, will be able to entrol [sic] their sons' into ACSP via Phase 2A1 / 2A2.

Don't know abt the price range but you must keep in mind the timeline. For new condos, the TOP must not be later than 31 Dec 2015. As for resale, I think there's also a timeline. If do not meet within the timeframe, the new add will not be recognised for P1 registration purpose.SAHM_TAN:

Good that you post the letter here.
Thank you
[quote]Dear Sir
My apologies for giving you the wrong information. I just confirmed with my Admin Manager that ACS(Barker Rd) and ACS(Primary) were 1 full school during the period between 1994 to 1998.

Yes, for new condo, my understanding is that, if the new condo's address is used for P1 registration purpose, we must move in the new condo by the end of Child's P2 year.skysky2018:

For resale, I am not sure about the timeline at the moment. Will try to find out. My understand is that, for resale, we need to move in before p1 registration starts. Although there is no clear requirement as in how long in advance we move in, but in order to change our NRIC address, we will need to show the unitilities bill to prove we indeed stay there, which means, we still need to move into the condo at least a few months before the registration starts.
