You might want to let him practice using assessment book. Fabian Ng problem sum is a good resource, problem sums made easy by Ammiel Wan a good guide but u will need to find relevant qns from top school exam to let him do practice, and of course on sponge p5 p6 conquer series is a gem to train problem solving ... Have a routine to practice n made the practice fun. I used to give bee stickers to my girl if she get more correct then wrong n sometimes her effort in solving the challenging problems .... I hope so. DS is not strong in Maths so we are hoping to really boost confidence to prepare him for the BiG REAL thing. However, with such difficult questions(apply to him only ) it is quite depressing. Thanks! I will let him attempt other top school papers to balance it out.happyheart:

Thanks all for your advice and recommendation. DS 有心而力不足...he wants to do but he is rather slow in solving maths questions. I have many assessment books but none is 100% completed. I can only choose and pick. Too much will :imdrowning: him.
School is inconsistent. On someday, work is minimum to just one piece of homework and other days, there are homework for all subjects!
Btw, can we actually stop CCA at P6 and what is the impact on the report book? Say if we stick with the CCA, when will it be officially stop for PSLE students? -

You are not alone. Mine cant do last few questions of Paper 2 too. Maybe still early and they have not been drilled enough? Dont worry - I always tell her (in order not to dampen her spirit and confidence level) that so long as she knows what she doesnt know and learn what she ought to know - cum PSLE she will know what she doesnt know.
I always work on the basis that it's good to find out stuff she doesnt know now than later, in this way she is less frus doing the papers.

I think different school has different policy. For my school, no option, CCA is a must. They are ending CCA after Term 1 and additional supplementary lesson takes over. At the moment they have supp classes thrice a week. Pitiful. For DSA or appeal cases later on, it will look better on record if the child has CCA. -
:celebrate: I think despite it being the PSLE year DC must still have time apart from studies as we do not want DC to burn-out or to peak too early.
Should still allow time for CCA or non-academic activities that gives DC time to unwind. If DC likes CCA then carry on.
It is important to plan revision time-table NOW. Adjust it to have time to finish weaker subjects or topics 1st so that there is more time to revise weaker subjects or topics later. DC should know which topics not so strong so work with DC on those weaker areas 1st.
But whatever it is DC needs to have routine that gives time to relax on a daily basis. It is a long 8 months for DC if there is no outlet for relaxation.
I would rather the journey be memorable for good reasons than bad -

only hope that the school can stop asking the children to stay back after school! I can imagine how tired they r! from morning wake up at 6+ till 3+, its abt 10 hours at school, come back still hv to do homework…
I dont mind the kids stay back for CCA cos its only 1-2 days but not the supp class… its really tiring and I dont think the kids can study in the afternoon after spend a long day at school.

With the DC so busy with school n tuition work, may I ask how to do daily revision? My DS at times cannot even follow the daily timetable of doing school/tuition work, he isn’t even able to find time to practise piano, I jus dunno when he can find time to revise? How do your DC do it? Is doing practise papers/books consider revision too?
Everyday i am chasing him to complete his work, and he is chasing after his work. So routine and tiring. Even weekends mornings and afternoons are not spared. -

Revision should be according to subject. Science have to revise from P3, so start with P3 Science and then P4. For Maths DC is studying as the work is done in school so as long as can keep up with school work and tuition then fine. Go through P5 Maths paper to find out if there are weak areas and focus on those areas only for Maths.
For CL DC is studying as the work gets done on daily basis. Same for EL.
Do not worry too much. If u break it down to each subject and focus on weak areas 1st for each subject then you and DC will find the time. It will not be so overwhelming. :xedfingers:
