      Hi Fairy,

I bought stationery and art material (whole set) at RGS yesterday, and bought some textbooks at popular bookstore. yes, there is no biology textbook in the list, how do you know that RGS will teach biology in S1?

\" According to an existing student, they did not make use of those stuff this year!\", same as your feeling, :x

I will purchase RGS school uniform this Saturday at Bibi & Baba Orchard road. my daughter will be RGS in PE T-shirt & culotte on 29 Dec 09.
      Thanks.

              Hi wmd,

It's so nice to be surrounded by friends from her primary school. For NYPS, majority of those who joined RGS are GEPers, only a handful, including my daughter are Mainstreamers.

Any idea if they must be in their PE T-shirt & culotte on 29 Dec? I'm a bit puzzled there is no Biology text book in their booklist. Also, the Art set, which was lablled as compulsory & cost almost $80 consists of items like scissors, hole puncher, ruler, glue, pen knife, sharperner & other stuff that I would not have purchased had I more time to scrutinise the list. According to an existing student, they did not make use of those stuff this year! :x
I heard from my daughter the teacher said they have to be in the PE T-shirt and culotte on 29th Dec. I also did not buy the scissors, hole puncher, glue and what-not. However, I have some problems with the electronic gadgets like the calculator and dictionaries. Do I need to get them? How about the scientific calculator? Can we continue to use the one they have? My daughter has 2 of that.

The scientific calculator that the school recommends you to buy would be easier for your daughter to use, because the teachers generally teach the students how to operate that specific kind of calculator. If you have a very similar brand of calculator already, then I suppose you don't have to get a new one. But it is best to get a calculator as similar to the recommended one as possible.

Also, from experience, it is best to get the school-recommended calculator, because sometimes, students forget to bring their calculators on important test and exam days, and they usually borrow calculators from their seniors. If you know how to operate the calculator that is more commonly used throughout RGS, then it is easier for you when you have to borrow someone else's.

How about the shoes? I heard shoes with a white base is good enough. How much colour on the shoes are you allowed to have? Thank you thank you :salute:

Can someone advise if the zip/button should be at the front or back of the culotte? Hope my question does not seem stupid. It'll be easier to wear the culotte with the button in front, right?

The shoe shouls be 80% white. Just returned from the CCA briefing and it is not necesasry to wear school sock, white will do.
