I do agree that expecting growing kids to wait until 2+ or 3pm to have lunch is ridiculous. Which office worker would stand for that? I actually wrote to MOE last year to complain, and got the usual 'thank you for your feedback, we will look into it' letter, but nothing gets done. Maybe more people should write in too?
Hubby works till late hour...but he said he has air con...so it wasn't so bad...goes out for lunch at 12...the hot sun right up there but hey, he has air con when he returns to the office. Our kids eat at 215pm...that is ridiculous and mind you, they do not enjoy a leisure one but quickie one bcos of homework and tests to learn.
MOE, you get the idea? -

But so many P6 kids are staying in school till quite late because of supplementary classes, so maybe the change in hours isn't really so great? Haha! Maybe after Punggol East By-election, PAP or MOE will take better note of your feedback.
Perhaps, you try writing to them again?

If MOE does respond, that would be so pathetic…bcos it goes to show that fear factor has awakened those sitting up there.

Looks like MOE has already been given the 'death sentence'.

Maybe from a blur student I have become a blur mum.
dd1 has CCA since P1, this yr P2. She wakes up at abt 630am or 645am. She has brekkie before she steps into school. The brekkie is at home if she wakes up at 630am or along the way to school if she wakes up at 645am. We take public transport but we do not eat on the mrt train.
She has recess at 10am, she has her fav to choose from, laksa, school version of economical rice, sushi, corn or fruits.
Days without CCA, she’s off at 135pm, ok lah, the above selection should fill the 3 hrs before lunch.
Days with CCA, 2 days, I will bring lunch to her. Her CCA starts at 2.15pm, a quick lunch and off she goes. I’m also ok lah, the amt I pack will last her for 2 hrs and later if she wants she can have a small snack before dinner.
Growing wise, she’s the tallest in her class even among boys. Like me when I was young, she’s underweight. I have tried means and ways to fatten her up but no success. So I guess like me, maybe she will only gain weight when she gets married and later pregnant LOL. -
My DC kids will have food and a packet of milk from the canteen during recess. The p3 one will pack extra snack to eat in the bus on the way home. School ends at 1.45 and he is home around 3 when he takes his lunch. Elder one does not pack additional food but reaches home slightly earlier.
The silver lining for me is they are normally very hungry when they reach home and will tend to eat more and faster. Everything taste better too. -

Yes, yes. But dd1 eats during recess so the speed of eating and amt of food has not increased for me case :rotflmao:

It seems some kids go home for lunch. If we want MOE to ensure that all the students can have lunch before 1pm, they need to be dismissed before 12 noon, allowing for travel time (and shower time?).
As there are also calls to start school later in the morning, the curriculum time needs to be cut down to accommodate the changes in hour?
Of course, some may ask for longer hours so the students can have lunch in school around noon, and then continue with afternoon lesson.
But then, others may be unhappy that they will have even less time for tuition and homework and revision.
How?
