Maybe from a blur student I have become a blur mum.

dd1 has CCA since P1, this yr P2. She wakes up at abt 630am or 645am. She has brekkie before she steps into school. The brekkie is at home if she wakes up at 630am or along the way to school if she wakes up at 645am. We take public transport but we do not eat on the mrt train.

She has recess at 10am, she has her fav to choose from, laksa, school version of economical rice, sushi, corn or fruits.

Days without CCA, she’s off at 135pm, ok lah, the above selection should fill the 3 hrs before lunch.

Days with CCA, 2 days, I will bring lunch to her. Her CCA starts at 2.15pm, a quick lunch and off she goes. I’m also ok lah, the amt I pack will last her for 2 hrs and later if she wants she can have a small snack before dinner.

Growing wise, she’s the tallest in her class even among boys. Like me when I was young, she’s underweight. I have tried means and ways to fatten her up but no success. So I guess like me, maybe she will only gain weight when she gets married and later pregnant LOL.

My DC kids will have food and a packet of milk from the canteen during recess. The p3 one will pack extra snack to eat in the bus on the way home. School ends at 1.45 and he is home around 3 when he takes his lunch. Elder one does not pack additional food but reaches home slightly earlier.

The silver lining for me is they are normally very hungry when they reach home and will tend to eat more and faster. Everything taste better too.

Yes, yes. But dd1 eats during recess so the speed of eating and amt of food has not increased for me case :rotflmao:

My upper Sec DC have similar breakfast/recess/lunch/snack hours as your P2 DD.

There is something wrong or nothing is wrong? :?

It seems some kids go home for lunch. If we want MOE to ensure that all the students can have lunch before 1pm, they need to be dismissed before 12 noon, allowing for travel time (and shower time?).

As there are also calls to start school later in the morning, the curriculum time needs to be cut down to accommodate the changes in hour?

Of course, some may ask for longer hours so the students can have lunch in school around noon, and then continue with afternoon lesson.

But then, others may be unhappy that they will have even less time for tuition and homework and revision.

                How?

Hmmmm. My P6 gal since morning session in P2 eats breakfast at 6.20am, recess break at ~9.30am (sometimes she skips) & lunch break at 1.30pm if eat in Sch or 2pm if at home. However on days she skips her recess, she does complain of hunger at 1.30pm. Hence my advice is not to skip recess. Thot normal......or is it not??

Off topic…I am not pro WP…but I am just hope for a listening ear and a voice that cares. PAP didn’t get a death sentence…but they really need to understand why they lost.

Breakfast is a must. French toast, half boiled or 3/4 boiled eggs or fried eggs.
Recess, both kids will eat something. Yet they are starving at 215pm…naturally. I am hungry at 10am too, will clear up whatever food is left over from breakfast. MOE, I hope you understand our kids are hungry when they are dismissed close to 2pm. Not all have the luxury of being chauffeured home.

Son’s teacher told me not to schedule any tuition on weekdays…to allow supplementary lessons. My son just told me he has to stay back till about 430/5pm about 3 times a week…that is really nuts bcos it’s Sec 1.

My dear son just informed me he needs help for history…that means I will have to read up 2moro…did tell him he is on his own…but since it is a new thing and he asked for help, I have to step in.

I think school should give all families an option to attention or not attention supplementary lessons. If the child can have better personal help at home, and doing ok, then why hold him/her back with a big group? Why the pressure to attend? Sometimes longer hours do not mean better work or understanding. Quality is more important.

Understand that some parents would prefer to have their kids stay in school longer to learn more but some might feel otherwise. I just feel that kids should have time off to play, relax and be a kid. How to be creative and nurture general knowledge if you are caged up all day? 🤷

Manpower side has limits on working hours and break times etc. How come school kids don't? If you don't give the employees the required rest and they have to starve through lunch, they'll just quit on you or worse still, make a report. :yikes:

Son told me his teacher told the class supplementary/remedial lessons are given for those who fail any tests...while I do appreciate the teacher's effort to provide extra time after school, it seems like the supplementary lessons are compulsory after all. I just sent in an email to seek clarification...very blur now.
