What is wrong (or not wrong!) with the PAP nowadays?

I do not think that our current PAP are weak and indecisive, but rather that the electorate now have higher demands and expectations, as we are better educated and informed. Rightly, we question their policies and expect them to present their arguments for implementing the policy. However, I do think that they mostly present their side of the argument, without really acknowledging that we citizens really do have grievances and doubts about their policies.


Having said that, I do think that the party is trying to engage Singaporeans via Our Singapore Conversation, Reach, etc ... Sometimes , I think it's we, the ave Joe, who does not engage with our fellow Singaporeans outside our familiar circle. Yes, we rant and rave on KSP and other online forums ... But other segments of society do not go to online forums to air their views. And sometimes I think that the views expressed and the way views are expressed on online forums are vastly different from that in a face to face conversation. Perhaps it's the absence of body language.

Leaders win people's confidence by being able to strike the right chords with the people, understanding their needs, win their support and trust, thereby being able to get them to support garmen's objectives and directions. PAP has been parachuting in too many candidates who did not win in this way, hence the need to hold Singapore Conversation and such. They are just wasting their time. If they want to start winning back people's support, win them over in Elections! And play just!

I wonder very often why qualified people from the grassroots within the PAP aren’t put up as candidates - why ask some doctors from a different constituency? Am sure there are worthy ones within the active grassroot pool, no?

It's the way the entire civil service works. The minions in the civil servants all have a glass ceiling no matter how good and hardworking you are, unless you are a scholar or \"the chosen one\". This is standard in the entire civil service. Top leaders are almost always parachuted from somewhere else, or someone who is on rocket track who was the \"chosen one\" to begin with.

The leaders nowaday have the worst from both world.

The old leaders can be seen as repressive but at least they are strong and decisive. The new leader arrive at questionable policies but at the same time is weak and undecisive.

I almost felt PM was with us when he expressed sympathy for the 2 boys who died in the accident in Tampines - until he had to add the remark about the online circulation of photos. It makes me wonder about his real intention for mentioning it in the first place. What other similar cases had he shown sympathy towards in the past? He had just brought up the case of online communications and this case seems soooo suited to substantiate his ground.

Please, just express sympathy as sympathy and nothing else! :mad:

He wrote \"let us show sensitivity and respect to the family, especially online\".... Personally dont find anything wrong with that....
These 2 boys as well as the boy who fell in sengkeng are known to a lot of kids in tampines via fb or school ties, and the messages we are seeing even in these postings by the kids are also to get those photos down..... One cant be wrong if even the kids felt this way....

Sorry you felt that way.

Many bloggers have posted/twitted the same. Including mr.brown. And many agree that it is highly insensitive to post such photos.

But maybe , just maybe, you need to check if you are only trying to finding fault at all costs.

( reminds me of my mil.....)
